WTF did I just POAS @ 8DPO???!!

So annoyed with myself!! I read somewhere...Dr Google...that it was possible to get at least a faint line on a very sensitive test...which I have...at 8 DPO. Obviously it was a BFN!! I've been feeling familiarly odd..could be my month or could be all in ones mind!!
After my MMC in April...I vowed if we ever ttc again..I wouldnt get my hopes up each month. Anyone else not resisting the urge to POAS although you know you shouldn't? I can't be the only one?!

You most certainly aren't the only one. I got so annoyed at myself after months and months of obsessing and secretly POASing so early that it would be a fluke if it ever did show up positive that I only ever kept one test in the house. I found I was much more reluctant to waste my one test and wanted to use it more day appropriately.

It's hard thou, and it's even harder not to continue to get your hopes up every month.

Best of luck for this month!

wilderumpus · 18/07/2012 12:54

meeee! I did it at 8dpo, or maybe even earlier last month :) Just itching it poas and I had loads of those IC in. This month I have only five and have told myself I can test at 10dpo, rather than making myself try and wait for 14dpo and failing miserably!

Don't worry wifey it doesn't really matter.

wifey6 · 18/07/2012 13:14

Thanks wilde....I've bought 20 cheapy sticks online! Blush
I'm going to test Saturday as its says you can test 4 days before AF with these..

OP posts:
wilderumpus · 18/07/2012 13:21

20! you got yourself a party there girl Grin I can't have as many as that, I have been known to test twice in one day simply because I can Blush

wilderumpus · 18/07/2012 13:21

and no, I wasn't pg that month!

wifey6 · 18/07/2012 13:23

Grin it was cheaper to buy 20 than 10 so I thought..'why not...'? I'm driving myself a bit crazy as I'm feeling like I did last pregnancy before I got a BFP...it excites but scares me too Sad

OP posts:
wilderumpus · 18/07/2012 13:45

oooooh! sits down in a comfy chair with some m and ms to wait out your, ahem, luteal phase Grin

feel free to share feelings!

wifey6 · 18/07/2012 13:56

Thank you wilde....I've got 'pinching' pains very low in my stomach...feel sick..off tea (wish I love) like I did with my DS & my last pregnancy (suffered MMC), off food & chest aches. I'm thinking it could just be my body messing with me..Confused

Excitedbutscared84 · 18/07/2012 14:30

POAS I swear is an addiction and even when we know its too early anyway we still do it sometimes twice a day
Dont get too reliant on the cheap test I used them and they were negative till 12 dpo when I got the faintest of faint , hold me up to the window and there might be a line to go and buy a FR test and with my 10th wee of the day (about lunch time) to get a BFP no doubts at all, I didnt even feel pregnant and thought I was out this month! I was on the July thread with you as zoeymlucas :)

Good luck and try and wait a couple of days much easier to say than do

wilderumpus · 18/07/2012 14:35

fingers crossed for you wifey.

I also had a mega faint line with my last pg on a IC at 11dpo but a lovely clear one on a frer... this time around I am allowed to POA IC and if I have a sniff of a line will run out to check with a 'proper' test (FRER)!

wifey6 · 18/07/2012 14:39

Excited....are FR better than CB? With my last pregnancy (Sad)...I did 8 cheapies...all with faint-ish BFP & then did a CB digi. But they are so expensive aren't they! Might invest in a FR to confirm (if I should get a BFP on cheapies this month). I feel so stupid for really wanting a BFP..yet feeling so scared at the same time Blush

OP posts:
wifey6 · 18/07/2012 14:39

When are you testing wilde...?

OP posts:
wilderumpus · 18/07/2012 14:48

I am testing in a week, at 10dpo. I got a vanishingly faint BFP on 10dpo with my last pg and my test at 14dpo was so strong with DS it would have shown up am sure of it. so will go with that. Though I know it could be a false neg but happy to go with that (impatient by nature!).

my testing rites with a BFP are thus: IC; then FRER because they never lie and really are sensitive; then CB digi for the husband :)

can't be stupid for wanting a BFP, if you are working to get something why be coy about what it is you want?! Hope this is your month.

Methe · 18/07/2012 14:49

I've had a BFP at 8 dpo in 3 different pregnancies..

probably not helping your addiction

wifey6 · 18/07/2012 14:52

Thank you...hope it's your month too wilde. I think I will test again on Sat/Sun & see. I'm trying to be detached I guess as I don want to get my hopes up Blush

Just found a site - countdown to pregnancy & that gives statistics for testing DPO...it's really good. . 10DPO looks pretty promising so will wait til then to test. Smile
Whatever will be will be...

OP posts:
wilderumpus · 18/07/2012 15:25

been there, done that :) do like that site, it has deterred me from testing too early a few times.

thanks for the luck, am feeling pretty sanguine about it this month. I have sort of realised that all I can do is get all my ducks in a row and then it is all down to luck!

My baby will come when my baby is ready :) now please

Excitedbutscared84 · 18/07/2012 15:59

I found the FR loads better and are much more sensitive than the CB however hangs head in shame I did the FR and then done a CB a few days later and then a week later to check hormones were going up, think thats my crazy side since MMC in May!!
A pack of 2 FR is on offer in Tesco at mo for £7.00 which isnt bad I thought so I bought 2 boxes Confused

wifey6 · 18/07/2012 16:12

Thanks for that Excited...sorry for your loss. Sad Sad I'm scared witless ttc again.
I miss feeling the excitement & having such a 'care-free' view on it all...never expected to have a MMC...didn't even realised it existed until it happened to me. Sad Sad
I want that girl back who was so excited & optimistic all the time...not the girl I have been left with who is scared all the time. Sad
But...I have to try & smile as I still have so much I be thankful for. Sad
wilde....your baby will come when it is meant to. Smile Keeping everything crossed you x

Once again woke up with the 'stupidity bug' & decided to test at 10DPO (Dr Google said even a faint line could show)...BFN.
I guess I was expecting it really but despite feeling so sick & a few other symptoms--I cant see this being my month. That said...I will not be POAS until/if AF is late.
With my DS I tested BFP day AF was due & with my last pregnancy I tested BFP the day before AF.

stupid wifeySad>

OP posts:
Excitedbutscared84 · 20/07/2012 08:48

Dont give up just yet I was 100% sure I was out this month and think I only POAS to feed my slight addiction to it hangs head in shame
Sometimes pregnancy systoms can be a bit like AF symptoms so never say never till AF arrives as it will happen!

wifey6 · 20/07/2012 09:01

I feel like I did with my last pregnancy to be honest...but daren't get my hopes up. So if I resign myself to thinking I'm out this month...when AF arrives I won't feel so disappointed. Didn't realise how much I wanted it til this week when these silly (obvious) symptoms started happening Sad

OP posts:
wilderumpus · 20/07/2012 13:16

well if you normally don't get a BFP until the day AF is due you can't be surprised it isn't there at 10dpo :) still well in with a chance :)

wifey6 · 21/07/2012 20:02

Well sticking to my guns after reading info/stats from countdown to pregnancy. It says a BFP can be detected from 12DPO which will be tomorrow...so it's very tempting. Didn't realise how much I wanted a BFP til this week.

Someone once posted the stats for the accuracy of pregnancy tests on here. It was pretty shocking. Even the "early response" tests are only 60% accurate up to 11dpo. The embryo does not release HCG until it has implanted (around 6dpo) so it is worthless testing before this.

The longer you leave it, the more accurate the result - and the more money you save! Personally (after over 2 years of TTC) I find the arrival of AF far easier to deal with than a negative test.
