Hi ladies :)

In December last year I found out I had large cysts on both of my ovaries, as well as the beginnings of endometriosis. I asked the doctor if these conditions could have been playing a factor in our struggle to conceive, and she said yes. I am 21 and we have been trying now for around a 8 months. [I didn't go to her because of difficulty to conceive, but rather because of the daily period pains I was experiencing.]

The frustrating thing about the cysts is they come with some of the indicators of early pregnancy - nausea, tummy ache etc - so I wondered if anyone out there has got pregnant knowing they had cysts on their ovaries or endometriosis and if the symptoms were any different because of this? Because we've not told anyone we're trying, I do feel a little like I'm going crazy because I try not to bore my OH to death with my concerns! I have wanted children since I can remember and it does concern me that I may not get the chance because of these conditions.

Thanks for all your help ladies :)

Alice x

Hi Alice

Sorry you are going through this. My mum had cysts and fibroids most of her life. She conceived me naturally though but I know how much pain she was in every month.

I don't have any advice but you really do have time on your side (god I feel old). Best of luck.

Hi WhenSheWasBad, thank you for your reply :) Like you say, time definitely is on our side (my OH is 22). I guess it sounds silly but when it's something you want so much, it's easy to imagine things getting in the way and spoiling it. My doctor did talk to me about removing them at some point but said that as they were growing so fast, they'd probably just reappear as soon as they'd whipped them out. Lovely thought! The pain definitely is the worst feeling. And like I say, so many of the symptoms of cysts etc are also pregnancy symptoms - I feel sometimes as if someone is having a jolly good laugh at my expense when I feel dizzy and nauseous and I'm late, yet again.

Anyway thank you for your reply and best of luck for you on your baby journey :) x

Not much experience but I discovered I had a number of cysts on my ovaries when I was 8 weeks pg with ds following some bleeding. They were talking about removing one but it burst anyway so nothing more was done! They gave me the impression they were common and mostly harmful but obviously not! I had bleeding on and off throughout my pregnancy but other than that no problems and a happy healthy ds! It took us 3 months to conceive xx

Hi there Snickers :) It's good to hear that you made it through your pregnancy - I've heard a few horror stories of women who sadly miscarry and are told the reason could be the cysts. Do you still suffer with cysts now? It's so lovely to be able to talk to women about this! My best friend has PCOS but she is avidly trying for a baby following her wedding, and is constantly barraged by negative tests and disappointment, so I can't really discuss it with her as she's stressed to the max! Thank you for comments :) fingers crossed it won't be too much longer! xx

No but then I didn't realise I had them in the first place so maybe they're smaller. They did mention when I was pg before of the possibility of pcos but again the subject never came up as I had other non related problems during my pg.

I had an early mc last month but the subject of cysts never came up to be honest I had forgotten about them until I read your post!

Have found out this morning that I'm pg again with no af in between so they're certainly not preventing me from falling pg!!
If I have any problems I will let you know!! Smile xxx

Just read my first post back I meant unharmful! Doh xx

Awwh congratulations, that's lovely news :) Fingers crossed everything goes well this time for you, I'm sure it will :) It's good to hear that things have gone well for you, this gives me hope! The thing about my cysts that I find so disheartening is they do give me so many pg symptoms. Like now, I've got backache, have felt dizzy and nauseous all day and have what feel like period pains. All of these seem to tick the boxes (I was pregnant before, only that sadly ended in miscarriage at around 6/7 weeks), but I feel like this most days. That's way it's so hard because I end up convinced I'm pregnant but it's just the cysts! Damn them! :) xx
