hi all..........thankyou for all your nice messages,it is so nice to know there are people around who understand. Thanks you lot Smile
Well, today i have been to drs, and to be honest am not sure what to make of it all. Feel a bit (ALOT!) het up and a bit upset by things, even though i s'pose the appointment went ok and the dr was pleasant and being helpful.
I explained everything that had been happening, about the bleeding and stuff. While he didnt offer any explanation whatsoever as to what it might have been, he did ask "do you think you may have been pregnant? was there a possibility you could have been pregnant?" for this i read that he was possibly suggesting a miscarriage,(as we have mused over on here) but i said i didnt think thati had not had a positive test throughout any of the bleeding or before. I said we have been trying for a baby, he asked how long. I explained we had got married in aug04 but not been using any contraception since then apart from withdrawal - he said that is not a method of contraception Blush and that from aug 05 we had been trying to target my fertile times . He then said so for approx 20months you have not been using any contraception at all, i said yes. (he seemed to think that dh not actually coming inside me was irrelevant!) He has asked me to go for a blood test on day 21 of my next cycle, i think this is to check for ovulation or hormones relating to ovulation? if anyone could enlighten me i would appreciate it. Then he dictated a letter into his dictaphone to the gynacologist, where he is referring me "for further investigation".

Im not sure how i feel about all of this to be honest!
He asked me several times if i had ever been pregnant (duh, NO!), had any infections "down below" (no, not as far as i am aware)and that the gynacologist would be able to do tests such as dye in the fallopian tubes to check they are clear. Does this sound right? i am a complete novice and dont really know what to expect. So im glad i went, but still have absolutely no idea what caused the bleeding.
Btw, he also suggested my dh (who is not a patient at the same practice) go for a sperm analysis test..............dh is horrified!!!!!!! and so far says he isnt going because "its too soon for that kind of thing"!
men eh???!!!!!

trace2 · 29/03/2006 18:47

its all normal, i think that you have a very understanding gp,

peachygirl · 29/03/2006 18:49

Cor Blimy pussycat!!
what a surprise, I suppose it is all positive the blood tests should confirm ovulation and in my opinion any visit to the gyne even if just pereliminary is good. I'm impressed with your GP, getting things going so quickly.
((((hug)))
Someone at my school is pregnant which is good news. I'm happy or her but a little bit miffed as I wanted to be next! But if I do get lucky and my nursery nurse does them my head will just be feaking out which will just be hillarious to see!!!
I'm thinking of resurrecting the April thread give bit a little bump to remind us all that it is there!

hi you two, am only on here for the briefest of seconds as dh has some work to do on computer and we only have one in the house (plenty i think though btw!) so i cant be on chatting .
just thought i would add that my sister called to see how i had got on at docs, (mum had told her i was going) and was quite off with me Sad
she asked what had happened so i told her, but she was quite kind of " i doubt very much the gynacogst will do anything if youve only been trying 3 months" , she can be very off with me sometimes anyway and obviously she isnt feeling her best. She was v. suprised at gp doing blood test on day 21 (btw anyone know what this is for exactly??) and seemed even more pissed off, saying, in a wry voice, "well im sure you'll be fine" meaning "im so NOT fine" .
who knows what shes going through bless her, but it does make it harder for me............ you know how i feel.

x x x x x x x catch you all laters, give me some lovely gossip to come back to. btw trace havent been on msn for ages, will try and get on mn and msn when dh playing snooker tomorrw.
((((((((((hugs to all ))))))))))))pusscat x x x

hello all :).

Trace you'll have a lovely birthday on Saturday I'm sure, and I'll send you lots of jokes to make you laugh :O

Pussycat your GP sounds very understanding, he's right withdrawal is not seen as an effective means of contraception because some sperm are released before ejaculation so it is perfectly possible to get pg without an actual ejaculation of sperm. You're less likely to get pg than if you just have sex with no contraception at all, but remember it only takes one sperm to survive so it is possible, and I kknow people who have got pregnant using this method and were shocked when it happened. The day 21 blood test is to see if you have ovulated, I'm not sure exactly what hormones they check for at this stage, but the levels will indicate whether you've ovulated or not, someone like meerkats unite would probably be able to tell you in more depth what it is they're looking for. Also they will likely do a full blood count at this point, iron levels/white cell count/thyroid levels etc, to ensure that there isn't something else preventing you from conceiving. If referred to a gynecologist he may run several tests, the dye one is done in conjuction with a laperoscopy I think, where they insert a camera and put dye in the tubes to see if they're blocked or not. At same time they may check for other internal problems. Again I don't know a huge amount about this as have never had it done, hth a bit though :). As for your sister, it may be hard for her to hear of others going for the tests that she initially had, the tests that showed her to be incapable of conceiving a child naturally, also, I imagine maybe she didn't get referred as quickly as she would have liked, so maybe there's some resentment there, not towards you, but towards the system, hope that makes sense?

Peachy your turn will come soon I'm sure, in the meantime you can have lots of fun practicing, lol.

Have had some spotting myself today - don't know what that's about but am seeing gp again on Friday, hopefully she might give me some more answers. Will do a test tonight to rule that out as know that gp will only ask anyway, really don't want to do a test as know it will be bfn and it seems a waste of a good pg test, lol.

beartime · 29/03/2006 22:55

I would try and explain to your DHs that sperm analysis is a lot easier than what the woman has to go through to be tested, and fertility problems are usually 50/50 - may help?
