taking up (gentle!) running when TTC?

I'm a healthy eater and have a fairly active life so i am slim but not a great exerciser. I would like to improve this for my general health but, probably stupidly, am worrying that it might affect my ability to conceive as so far it's not happening.

I was thinking of trying couch to 10K.

Am i right in thinking this won't do my TTC efforts any harm??

It won't do your TTC any harm as long as you're not overdoing it/pushing yourself too hard etc. I think the advice is just not to start any new exercise when you're pregnant, so best to wait until AF just in case.

Hi berries I am the same, so interested in this. I did couch to 5k in Jan/Feb, but do worry about it in the 2ww so now tend to do less (ttc 12 months now). While logically I know it must be ok, and being fitter is likely to increase chances, I just keep imagining the poor egg trying to cling on but being jiggled around so giving up

Yes, I think I am a bit bonkers

haha! keepitgoing - i have the same crazy vision of the egg and sperm being about to meet and then i jolt them out of place! Must be stupid i know! I have also been TTC 12 months so don't want to keep putting things on hold 'incase i'm pregnant'.

BUT - i have read lots of things about not taking up new exercise while PG....

In my own (anecdotal) experience, it was a really good idea. We'd been TTC a long time, I started couch to 5K in January as a New Year resolution to do something to keep my mind off things. Got a BFP in the end of February! 24 weeks now :)

I run a lot and am ttc. I did 5k this time last yr and on sat did 10k.

as long as u build up ur distance gradually then u should be fine. I went from 5k to 10 by adding half a k to my distance every week (I run 3-4 times a week) or so.

I too did couch to 5k at Easter and now do just under 5k 3 times a week. I too think about the poor little egg trying to cling on.
It has been said on here before that primitive woman would always have been running to or from something.

I find that in the TWW I nearly always spot when I run. Anyone else find that?
