Back after a break- ?low progesterone

Hi all,

I'm back after a break.. We're TTC number 1, been trying 9 months but did have a MMC in Dec.

We had a month off trying and I was staying away from the forum to try and stay relaxed!! ( didn't work)

I'd noticed my cycles had got a bit longer so asked gp for day 21 bloods. Just had the results back and progesterone was 27.1.

Now, I ought to fess up that I am a doctor myself but not a gp and I didn't really know how to interpret this .. I know it's suboptimal but how much difference does this 3 make??

My gp has just suggested we repeat it in a few months.. And told me to relax ( Grrr). I asked whether she'd consider Clomid as a next step but she says no she'll refer us to infertility clinic..?

I wish i'd never had the bloods! Whilst I was inpatient- I didn't actually think there'd be a prob :-(

Thanks for any advice...

Xx

Sorry to hear of your loss, and hope the break from TTC has helped.

Was this test done 7 days post ovulation? If it was done on the wrong time in your cycle, such as traditional day 21, this result could be misleading if your cycle is not exactly 28 days with ovulation on day14.

I would take up the GP suggestion of repeating but make sure blood is taken 7 days post ovulation.

Thanks for the reply.. It was day 21. I used to have 25 day cycles but in the six months since MMC they've been anything from 22-32.

I've tried opk's and never had a positive.. Is temping the only way for me to know ov day and thus catch the bloods 7 days later?

AF due Sunday but spotting today so guessing this months out- altho vague hope it's an implantation bleed..

Xxx

I use the internet cheapie OPK tests, senstive strength, from Amazon. I never got on with the much more expensive digital smiley ones. I get a faint line on these, but I know that is a positive for me so I am happy with that.

Temping isn't for everyone as it relies on you waking at the same time each day, taking your temp before you get up or even move!! So it you have broken sleep, are up in the night or wake at different times it might not be for you. Check out the Fertility Friend web site as that has loads more info and tutorials.
