Ovulation blood test - when to have it

Went to see my GP this morning and she said to book in for a blood test to check I'm ovulating - and that this should be done a week before my period. The thing is, I'm using ovulation tests this month and got a positive yesterday, which was day 12 in my cycle. Should I actually have the test on day 19 then?

Any experts?

I'd suggest you go on day 20-21. Ov tests detect the hormone that surges before ovulation happens. I have ovulated on the day of the surge but I most usually ovulate one or two days later.

I definitely felt a sharp pain last night on one side that made me think I had ov'd, got the smiley face in the afternoon.

Think I will book for day 20.
