Football and TTC (good or bad)

I have been thinking about the pros and cons of football while ttc (I am not a football fan myself but dh is). Basically I am not sure if I want England to do well or not.

The argument for them doing well is - men get an increased in testosterone of 20% when their team win. So a good performance on the pitch might mean he has a higher sex drive and is more interested in sex.

The argument against is - it takes time to watch the football - time that could be spent dtd. Also watching football tends to be done with a beer or two and my dh doesn't really do drinking and dtd.

Bad bad bad for me as DH doesn't just watch it on the telly, he's off over there. 4 days away this week to watch the Sweden England match on tonight, and right over middle of my cycle so probably fertile period! I was not pleased when I worked out the timings!

VeggieSaus · 15/06/2012 21:34

haha great thread
We are trying the eod approach this month so DH had to give me a quickie between getting home from work and going out to watch the footie. Certainly put the pressure on!

KFFOREVER · 15/06/2012 21:44

Badddddd...... Especially when football lasts for nearly 2 hours including the commentary. Precious time is being wasted.

bugoven · 16/06/2012 09:54

I watched the football with DP yesterday and really got into the game with him. I was wearing a cute England T-shirt and shorts combo which he said was sexy so I thought we'd be at it as soon as the full time whistle sounded. No such luck. He celebrated their victory with a couple more Bourbon and cokes Sad

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 16/06/2012 15:34

So far seems baaaaad.

You are so right about them wanting to listen to the bloody commentary on it afterwards. I just don't get it, you've watched the match, there were people commenting on it throughout, replays of anything of importance. Why on earth do you need to hear about it again 5 minutes after the final whistle.

Grrr. Rant over for now Grin

flowery rubbish timing. Did you manage to dtd before he left. I think I remember you from another thread re your dh going away but my memory is pretty poor.

Those little swimmers can hang around for up to 5 days so you could still get lucky.

I love the footie - and after TTC for over a year now, completely not bothered. If anything, it's nice to have a distraction and some sort of normality, instead of constantly thinking about it all the time.

The way I see things is that we will make time to try before or after the footie. Case in point, managed to DTD on ovulation day and watched the footie afterwards; as i don't get in from work until 6 anyway, i have usually missed most of the first game so gives me time to get some nookie in before the next one starts.

For those that see it as a bad thing - take heart that all games from now on kick off at 7:45pm, so if you are that desperate, try to engage him before it starts. A quickie is just as good as a long night of passionate sex.

And it will be all over by the 1st July and things will go back to normal.

For one month, I can cope Grin

Never really thought of this as a conception aid, genius! "yes darling, watch the football my love, I don't mind, you can owe me ;)"

Last time I conceived was when Liverpool won a cup final though so maybe there's something in it!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 16/06/2012 18:15

foof that's a good plan. Just smile sweetly as he watches the football maybe even make him dinner to eat while watching but he owes me sex on demand.

WhenSheWas, yep I'm ont he July thread with you - probably moaned about the bad timing of DHs trip away there too!

Last Wed DH said to me 'I can sex you at half time but that's your only option today as xxxx(male friend) is arriving some time in the second half'. How romantic and not preasured.

As it was friend arrived early (thankfuly texted to say he was ahead of schedule so didn't catch us at it!) and I had to wait until DH came to bed really late, after a number of beers, and sitting up watching some football related film or other with said friend. Generally DH will not dtd if anyone is taying with us, or we are staying somewhere else but I was not taking no for an answer that night!

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 17/06/2012 22:09

Grin at I can sex you at half time, would have been so pissed off if dh had done that to me.

Well done on dtd that night, no way I would have got anything from dh after a few beers.

I have left him enjoying the football tonight cd5 today so not int in dtd but he will owe me later on this month.

Well he was going away early the next morning for 4 days, adn as I say, mid cycle, so he knew it had to happen either then or 5am the next morning!

bugoven · 19/06/2012 15:51

DP an I are working late tonight then both getting home to watch the football together. Have already planned celebratory/commiseration SWI for afterwards Grin

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 19/06/2012 19:13

Sounds like you need a win. Apparently he will get a surge in testosterone levels which should put him in the mood.

Fx for a win.
