Progesterone after ovulation or after BFP?

Hi, hoping one of you guys can help with my query.

I have had 4 miscarriages and all tests from the re-current miscarriage clinic have come back negative. I have a short luteal phase and mentioned this to my consultant who eventually adviced to take baby aspirin every day on going and perscribed Utrogestan (200mg of progesterone) to take after I got a BFP.

I have been reading L Regan's book and looking on the net and am getting conflicting information.

Should I actually take the progesterone after ovulation or when i get my BFP? Is there any good reason not to take it after ovulation and wait? I am currently 4 DPO and more inclined to take it now then wait from the information I have read.

TIA

I seem to remember that when I was ttc, it was recommended -not by dr, just various ttc websites...- to take progesterone after ovulation if you have a short luteal phase (which I did). Have you looked at fertilityfriend.com or read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? They were both v useful to me when I was ttc but it's a few years ago now and I have already forgotten a lot of the advice!

The IVF cycles I've been on (different situation I know) have started progesterone after egg collection (ie: ovulation in a normal cycle).
