Fertility clinic: How long do they take?

I have just been referred to my local fertility clinic because of my non-existent cycle and inconclusive pcos result. How long do they usually take to get in touch? I've waited long enough so I hope it's not long

It'll totally depend where you are. Mine is about 7 weeks from when I was referred, other places can be four or ten

Thank you

Thanks for replying. It sucks that it takes that long. I've waited so long already :(

It depends where you are. I was referred last June and had my first appointment in October, after my referral had been lost twice (they did try to give me an apointment in October but my GP pushed for an earlier date because of the lost referrals).

Priscilla I'm in exactly the same position as you (no cycles, inconclusive tests). My GP said the appointment could take a "few months" in a sort of jokey voice so I'm assuming September and if I get anything sooner I'll be pleased.

The waiting is so difficult, I know.

Sorry - just realised - your question was actually how long for the clinic to get in touch, not how long before your appointment. For me it took just under three weeks for them to make contact, and I was going to give them a call at the three week point just to check that my GP's referral letter had reached them. If you've been waiting more than a fortnight maybe give them a buzz?

Yes, they will most likely give you the date within a couple of weeks, if not then contact them as you don't know if its lost like euro's

I know its hard to wait, but hang in there x

I got a 'questionnaire' within a couple of weeks, but I sent that back almost immediately, and it took a further 8 weeks for them to give me a date, which was 4 weeks more. I did get a dildo-cam at that appointment, my next appt for an HSG was only 2 weeks, but it's another 4 months till my next consultant appointment Hmm
