I was wondering if some of you lovely ladies could help me. I've used bullet points as it's easier for me to work out what I want to say.

  • I have the implant.
  • DH and I want to TTC early next year, thinking of having my implant removed at Christmas.
  • We are going on holiday end of Febuary 2013.

Now although fertility can resume almost straight away after having the implant removed, what are the chance that I would fall pregnant between Christmas and our holiday and would I even know by that point?

The reason i'm asking is that this is our last blow out holiday before we have DC's (NYC and Vegas) and I dont want to be battling sickness/tiredness etc. with all the flying, walking around and general holiday fun.

This is all assuming I fall pregnant inbetween Christmas and Feb! I dont want to delay TTC any longer (we've had to postpone it for 18 months as it is due to job security and moving house etc.) but I also dont want early weeks of pregnancy to spoil the holiday. How tired/ sick did you feel? Did you feel well enough for 3 filghts and 10 days of walking around?

DH and I are in our mid 20's so a couple of months more waiting wont hurt but I dont want to wait any longer!

Hi
In theory the contraceptive-ness of the implant finishes as soon as the implant is removed, but it can take a couple of months for your cycles to stabilise.
There are no guarantees that you will either fall pg straight away, or that you won't.
If you def don't want to get pg straightaway, then maybe use condoms in between having the implant removed and your holiday, so your body has chance to settle down before you start TTC and you stand more chance of knowing your cycle by then.
