Could I be pregnant?

My period is 12 days late and i feel nausated and tired. Pregnany tests have been negative though, and I had assumed that one would have shown positive by now. I did a clearblue digital this morning.

I have been having unprotected sex but if the pregnancy tests are negative then I cant be pregnant, so what could be causing my period to be late?

Thank you.

go to the docs and have a test?

sounds like you are but strange.

are you always regular?

pucca · 21/02/2006 21:05

I would think if you are pregnant you would have had a positive test by now tbh, stress can make your period late, especially if you are TTC-ing, also if you have recently come off the pill, or injection.

Stress? My period was 2 weeks late when I was 18 & I was out of my mind with worry.

A blood test would tell you for sure...

Fruity26 · 21/02/2006 21:06

Yes I am usually regular. I am not stressed but am concerned about why my period would be late. I was given a pregnancy test at the doctors a couple of days ago which was negative so they have dismissed my concerns.

I got two negatives before I got a positive a week afterwards. I would wait a week and test again.

There are other things that can cause problems with periods, including thyroid problems which could also leave you feeling nauseous and tired. I'd go and see the GP and ask for blood tests to rule out things like underactive thyroid and anaemia.

goldstarlover · 21/02/2006 21:06

yes, you could be pregnant. a friend of a friend had negative tests until she was about 4 months pregnant!

goldstarlover · 21/02/2006 21:07

especially if you've been having unprotected sex

WigWamBam · 21/02/2006 21:07

Fruity, have you done a home pregnancy test? They are often more sensitive than the GPs tests and may show a positive sooner than the GPs tests do.

Fruity26 · 21/02/2006 21:08

We are not trying for a baby as such, so there has been no stress in that area.

Have never been on the pill or used hormonal contraception. We were using condoms but stopped.

Also about 5 days after I had unprotected sex I had a very light bleed lasting 2 days although it was too light to have needed sanitary protection.

Yes, I have done 3 home tests over the last few days but all were negative (clearblue digital)

could that be inplantation bleed?

Beetroot · 21/02/2006 21:09

clear blue usually really good

Fruity26 · 21/02/2006 21:10

I thought it may be an implantation bleed, it was about the right time after having sex and was accurate to the discriptions of read of it.

We had unprotected sex on days 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 of my cycle. All the signs are there but no positive test.

The doctor is reluctant to do a blood test as he is adament that his test is 99% accurate and is all that is needed.

Time will tell!

Beetroot · 21/02/2006 21:18

you could be that 1%

Fruity26 · 21/02/2006 21:27

Do you have any recommendations of what tests to use? Clearblue have a good reputation but are also expensive. Are any of the cheaper ones worth trying?
