Working girls, how do you use your OPKs?

According to the packaging you shouldn't use first morning or evening urine to test with your OPK which, for me, means I have to do it at work . . . in a public restroom.

It's all well and good to pee into my Gü ramekin, leave it sitting on the shelf for half an hour to cool down, dunk my OPK, leave the stick laying around and read the results five minutes later at home. At work, not so much.

How do you working girls do it?

I just dip it in the wee there and then and don't worry about it cooling down to room temp. I also have a small plastic cup that came free with an old HPT so don't have to carry a massive glass jar around! Then I hide the evidence in my pocket or bag and secretly check when no-one's looking to see the result! (you may not be able to do that at your work, but you could nip back to the loo after ten minutes or so!)

I did mine at tea time when I got home and they worked ok. Or just pee on them on work if you can & pop them in your handbag!!

Is this a thread about ovulation testing for prostitutes? Neither TTC or a 'working girl' but intriguing concept.

I do mine when I get in from work at 4.30pm. as long as its before 8pm I wouldnt worry.

I worked in an office to clarify!

One month I did both the morning and lunch time, to compare. The morning was a bit fainter but still recognisable compared to the "no" times, so from then on I just did the morning - it worked fine, perhaps a little bit larger margin of error but I had no problems.

I'm glad someone else asked - I have tried pee'ing in a pot and bringing it home to dip the stick later - but I'm not sure if that would work? I've never had a positive, but who knows the significance of that

I do mine when I get in from work around 6 each day. As said before as long as its before 8 and done the same time then your fine. The other way would be get a sample bottle, fill it and pop in handbang on beginning of lunch then quick nip to the loo, dip stick and empty out, then pop stick in your handbag again.

Though if you were a prostitute trying to conceive, I imagine your odds may be higher than most! :-)

Bit of an investment but I got the cb fertility monitor as uses first wee of day, I teach so can't really take long toilet breaks while I leave a class full of teenagers& after school meetings etc make after school awkward too.

I've said this loads but I test the second wee of the day. In the mornings I have a wee as soon as I get up then I either have a run, in which case I need a wee when I get back so I test that, or if I don't have a run then I have a wee just before I leave the house and test that one.
If its the just before I leave the house one, I stick it back in the packet and then in my pocket.

I found that I never got a positive testing any other wee as they were too diluted and FMU doesn't work.

Whats the best Time of Day to Test?

I don't mind what kind of work you do, I don't discriminate

Perhaps I'll try testing when I get home from work around 18:00 and see if that works. If not, then I suppose I'll try the disposable pot at work. AFAIK the best time to test is mid-morning but not the first urine of the day.

I don't use the pee in a pot kind. I use the smiley face CB digi ones. You just POAS and get the answer in a couple of minutes. No pot required. And the stick is no bigger than a tampon, so easy to transport to the loos.

Around 2pm is supposed to be the best time to test although I find mine usually peaks a bit later than that.

i use the cheap dip sticks so need a pot to pee in. I've got a very small plastic screw top container (clear) that i pee in. i dip in the stick then set it aside, pour away wee, wipe out container with loo roll and either push in the stick or if the coast if fairly clear i carry it carefully to my desk hoping no one notices /tries to get me to do something, then I leave it for the full 10 minutes sort of hidden under my counter. I work in front line services so can be tricky! I do try to test at lunchtime (1pm) when we close for an hour but when its getting close to being a positive i test twice a day- 11am and around 7pm.

I've done OPKs at home, at work and even in a train loo as that was my only opportunity all day.

I never waited for the urine to cool to room temp - didn't know you were supposed to ? Anyway they seemed to work with body temp urine.

When I used the OPK at work, I didn't wait in the loo to see the result, instead I put the OPK in a plastic bag and put it in my pocket/handbag/etc, went back to my desk and surreptitiously checked it a few minutes later.

However I have also tested in the evening after work when I forgot to do it during the day, and that works too. The main thing is to make sure you haven't drunk much for a few hours before testing.
