Overweight boyfriend?

Hi lovely mumsnet people. Am new here so be gentle. :)

My partner and I have decided the time is right (as much as it can be I suppose) to try and get pregnant. About 2 years ago I started losing weight so that when we came to have a family, my body could be as baby ready as possible. As a result I've lost about 6.5 stone and am feeling fab. :)

However my boyfriend hasn't really lost as much weight as he'd hoped and is still on the heavy side. How much will this affect our combined fertility? I'm at a healthy conceiving weight but know his fertility can also be affected by being overweight.

I just wondered how much of an impact it would have for him to be (pretty) overweight?

Thanks much. x

Well weight can affeect fertility but frankly you won't know whether you are affected until you try!

We went for our NHS fertility consultation where I was weighed and height measured, then my BMI calculated to check it was under 30. DH did not have to go through this. We were both asked if we have a healthy diet and lifestyle etc.

So I am not sure if male weight issues are given any focus, only those of female partner.
