Could I be miscarrying?

I started taking the pill (Mercilon) three days before my period was due, so date of LMP is around 4th April. I had some spotting after sex with my DH two weeks ago but didn't think much of it (was halfway through my pill pack at this point).

I started spotting again a few days ago, brownish with tiny clots in, and it has now become bright red but not period-heavy. I was still taking the pill at this point. Last pill was yesterday. However I am having really really bad cramps and lower back ache, been vomiting, feeling dizzy and having night sweats.

I took an early pregnancy test yesterday but it was negative.

I am going to see the nurse later today, but just wondering what you wise MNers think? Is this just a random late / early period because I messed up the timing on my pills? I didn't think it was possible to get a period while actually physically taking the pill; usually my period comes a couple of days after finishing the 3 week cycle of pills.

Thanks for any advice; I'm worried that it might be an early MC.

Sorry you are feeling rubbish. Brew If you have only recently started taking the pill then your body may take a few months to settle into it and you could experience spotting in the first few months. For some people this happens a lot.

I am wondering why you are worried it might be an early MC as surely if you are taking the pill then you don't want to fall pregnant??

Easy Golden, my first pregnancy was unplanned and due to a pill failure. Still didn't want a miscarriage. Also miscarriages usually take their own course but sometimes can be problematic or painful, sometimes helps just knowing what's going on.

Very true, I'm sorry if I sounded insensitive that wasn't how I meant it.

Sorry too Golden, ttc myself, hormones everywhere, I've been jumping down people's throats a lot.

Golden - no we're not actively TTC but to have a mc would still be heartbreaking as although we're not yet planning our next child (already have DD) it wouldn't be a completely awful thing.

Thanks for your replies.
