Hi ladies, I'm hoping for a bit encouragement tonight and really have a simple question, can you be given clomid at my age or older? I have a fertility appointment in 2 weeks and was told to come back after I had got my BMI down, ( this meant loosing 2 stone) I have lost a stone and a half and am stressing that when I go back in two weeks, he will say, go away, too fat of and by the way dont come back as you are 39 now. He did hint at this last time.

Well... I had fertility appointment a couple of months ago.

TBH i would have thought the amount you have lost to date would indicate your determination to get your weight down and should be taken into consideration.

What tests have you had so far - e.g. 3 day FSH and 21 day progesterone from your GP - all normal / good?

I am sure clomid is given from various forums I have stalked :)

One and a half stone is brilliant: well done. Your age shouldn't be a factor if your FSH isn't too high and you are getting your BMI down. Take heart. I have just conceived DC2 aged 40, after quite a lot of discouragement from an NHS consultant I had just seen. We TTCd this DC a long time (conceived DS straight off when I was 37) but the problems were actually with my partner's fertility rather than mine. As soon as we realised and sorted him out - acupuncture and no booze for 12 weeks - we got a BFP so it just goes to show that the woman's age isn't always an issue.

Good luck tonight - stand your ground and you'll get your baby.

xxx

Sorry - good luck in 2 weeks time I meant!

I was never told that age was a factor (am also 39) when I met with the fertility specialist. What clickingtock has said is worth considering. DP & I both took conception vits and I also went for acupunture (following a mc, it really sorted by cycle out). I had high FSH (12.7) and DP had low morphology (2%)

Well, I think I may just ovulate one month and then not the next- commen I hear. My tests were just about normal one months and then this month low for a sign of ovulation. I believe as I have PCOS that I suffer from annovulation, but I guess they must test me for that. Lost another 3ib this week, hurrah! Doing ww, and am so fit now, they must see that I am really trying. Its the BMI they want down, 6ib to loose in two weeks, can I do it?
