What should my period look like?

I know this is very crude and I'm too embarassed to ask anybody else (so I'll ask the world wide web instead!). I've just had my 3rd failed treament of IUI and the last 6 months or so, there has been very very dark red jelly like globdules amoungst the bright red stuff during my period.
Can anybody tell me if this normal please???

Are your periods very heavy? I used to get this when I was alot younger and they were heavy- blood clots apparently and quite normal, but you should ask doc/nurse if worried.

I have had something similar for the last 6 months also - it is getting much better. GP checked me out and said not to worry - could be brought on by stress (probably) or just hormonal fluctuation.

Try not to worry but worth speaking to GP just to put your mind at rest.

Can be completely normal. Had periods like this until I had ds at age of 32!

Thanks for your replies.

All my life (I'm 35 in March!), my periods have been on day 28 and last for 1/2 day and very light.
Now, they go between 28-30, last for 4-5days and are heavy with clots??
Don't know if this is a blockage or something caused by all my fertility treatment???

popadums, im so sorry your third treatment didnt work, i remember you posting earlier last year asking if you should do a 3rd as you had 2 failed iui attempts,...very sorry for you that it failed , will you be doing anymore?

Hi bubbly1973!

Thanks for your kind words.

No more iui for us. Have decided to go private with ivf. Lots more stress but better success rates.
Trying to stay positive, 35 this year so fingers crossed.
How about you??
Popadums!
