Really worried. Do I have a UTI or is this something else? Warning TMI

Woke up this morning with really bad UTI. Or at least that's what it feels like. Burning sensation while peeing tiny amounts, the usual thing.

We have been doing a lot of SWI recently and I know that can give UTIs if not careful. But I was away for a couple of days at the weekend, and I know that DP went out with a particular friend who has a habit of encouraging him to pick up girls. I am not jealous or anything like that but I would not put it beyond the realms of possibility that he could have slept with someone else while drunk (and he was VERY drunk).

I'm hoping you will all come on and say it's possible to get UTIs from too much shagging and that's that!

I had this kind of UTI recently while ttc. Exactly the symptoms you describe.

Oh Mags. Do you really think he might have?

All I will say is that it is def possible to get a UTI from too much shagging. Drink plenty of fluid, and try and get to the GP Smile

Fish, I know, but I'm not trying to deal with that at the moment.

I'm not saying he's done anything, he probably hasn't, it's just the coincidence.

It could be honeymoon cystitis which is just a coy way of saying irritation from too much shagging Grin

Maybe I don't know... it's not I don't trust him exactly, but realistically it is possible. Wouldn't it be a bit early if it was something like that? I'm going to go to the GP tomorrow. I keep trying water and those cranberry things. I have had this before in a similar situation so am hoping it is that!

Definitely symptoms of uti burning, going loads and small amounts. If does not clear up with antibiotics then think of the other. Good luck

It could be a uti from ttc sh@gging, but you should really get a general sti screen if you think he might have been playing away.

But why are you ttc with a man you think might do something like this? Do you want to be tied to him forever?

I am not condoning the behaviour, I'm just saying it is a possibility.

I'm going to see what happens at the GP first. It feels like a uti, having never had any of the others I wouldn't know what they felt like though

Maghribia I went to the docs for antibiotics and told them I was ttc so they could prescribe the safest one. I took them and it cleared up after 2 or 3 days. I then got a letter saying there was no bacteria in sample, just blood. It must have been caused by the "activities".

I don't know the Dutch for bicarbonate of soda, but half a teaspoon in a glass of water might make your urine less acidic so burn less while the antibiotics kick in.

On a pratical level, yes, all the sexual activity can definitely cause UTIs. Before TTC, I'd never had a UTI. We've been TTC for 2 years now that's another story and I've had four, one that was so bad I ended up in hospital. Get yourself to your GP sooner rather than later. Putting it off does you no favours, believe me!
On the other hand, seriously? You're TTC with a partner who you think might have had unprotected sex with someone else?! Hmm I guess that's a conversation to be had with him...

I can get UTI from too much shagging or just very., ermmm spirited sex Grin

As for ttc with someone you think might sleep around, well that's another story.

I am a regular victim of utis docs can't find a cause tho i have noticed its often when we've gad a busy few days! I don't get a burning sensation I just feel the constant urge to pee!

Get to the docs for some antibiotics, as for your dp if it's any help it can take from 2 days up to 3 months for std symptoms to show and some unfortunately have no symptoms at all!

If your worried talk to your dp, nothing to do with lack of trust I think most ppls partners have that one friend who is a bad influence and we're only human at the end of the day all make mistakes from time to time (in not justifying infidelity just saying!)

I used to get cystitis all the time and I have learned the following:
Best cure is the sachets of powder you can get from Boots.
Second best is cranberry juice but ONLY Ocean Spray. All other brands don't have enough cranberry in them.

This means your symptoms have subsided. I still think you should you should see your GP. I left my last uti thinking it had subsided, it came back with a vengeance! no really I ended up in hospital please go and see your GP!

Better safe than sorry even if the doc finds nothing at least you can put your mind at rest, just take a sample down with you
