Is it possible to ovulate with hcg still in your system?

I miscarried 3 weeks tomorrow and had an hcg level of 91 Sunday. The Friday before was 104. The did a scan that Friday and saw multiple follicles on the ovary. Does this meani ovulated on Friday? I had vicious abdominal pain the day before which is why they scanned me as worried about ectopic which has been ruled out. Pain is also gone. What I do have is pregnancy symptoms. Big tingly breasts, aching joints which I felt before my miscarriage (6weeks along). Those symptoms disappeared before the miscarriage. What's happening?!

And sorry yes I had repeated unprotected sex leading up to this, and since.

Hi, sorry to hear about your mc.

I don't know the answer to your question, but researched this loads after my 1st mc and couldn't find anything conclusive. Hopefully someone more informed will come along!

If it helps, my midwife thinks that I ovulated a few days after my HCG levels returned to zero after my 1st mc. I fell pregnant, but then mc that one at 5 weeks. Left ttc again for the next cycle and have started ttc again this cycle.

Goodluck with ttc again. x

Yes it is possible to ovulate with hcg in your system. Some people inject hcg to trigger ovulation.

I have concieved immediately after an early miscarriage, but I have also have pregnancy type symptoms following a miscarriage as the hormones returned to normal. So I would say that you can't make anything out from your symptoms in terms of pregnancy or not, but it is possible you have already ovulated and it is possible you could be pregnant again quickly.

Sorry you have been through a miscarriage. Will they be tracking your hcg down to zero, or are you being left to retest with a pregnancy test to check it goes negative? Hopefully you will get an answer soon.

Thanks for your replies, 3 follicles were seen on my ovary so I can only assume one would have released.

I have been left to test in a weeks time, I'm still getting positive tests but light now. I think it will continue to get lighter and if a new pregnancy happens it will get darker??

The unknown is terrible! Smile

It's so horrible being left to test til you get zero isn't it, and feels totally unnatural wanting a negative pregnancy test. I waited to get a negative pg test before ttc again, mine just so happened to coincide with my bleeding stopping. Will your midwife test your hcg levels again to see if increasing again? My midwives were really great and tested when I wanted to confirm the second pg after 1st mc. It would stop you squinting at lines trying to determine if they're darker or not! Goodluck!

I had a call from the hospital gynae consultant and he wants me in on Monday for a new blood test, Hooray!! I am so pleased, it will get us a much better picture - I am at 7DPO today and still getting lines. :-/ No idea what to think!

Queen - I have had two miscarriages where it took over a month for the levels to drop to zero, they were very slow in going down, , both were 1st trimester losses, the first one was at 6 weeks and I didn't bleed until the level reached zero. I was told that with the that one I had just reabsorbed it. The second, I retained part and that was what was holding the levels up, I ovulated in the meantime, and my levels only hit zero when I had my next period and bled and passed the sac from the previous pregnancy (8 week size sac) My other miscarriages have all had the levels decline as they should.

What I am trying to say is don't get too excited about possibily being pregnant again. I found it harder with watching to see if the lines had stopped getting lighter, or were they getting darker,,,,, you know what I mean. I was heartbroken to then pass the retained products (even though I had had a scan telling me I had passed it all). I just don't want you to have false hope, just in case it isn't want you want.

I have been where you are now. It is hard to not hope. I am glad you are getting another blood test, at least that will give you an idea of how far down your levels have fallen. Let us know how you get on.

Sorry to hijack the thread! willitbe how long did it take for you to pass the retained products in the end? I have posted on mc board with not much response. I had a Erpc on the 12th April, I still have retained products and my last hcg a week ago was around 500 (I have another on wed). Want an estimate of how long I may be waiting! Its driving me mental! Have had 3 l

Oopps posted too soon! Had 3 lots if medical management, but it isn't shifting. The hospital won't do another Erpc.
Thanks
