AF was 38 days ago, but 2 BFN!!

Hi,
Not sure what is going on with me here.
Been TTC for more than one year, with no luck.
However this time round, AF is very late (was 38 days ago),
so I took two HPT today (one normal, 1 early test) and both
BFN!!! Funny as I was so convinced that this time
it was going to happen as I (thought) I displayed
the correct symptoms.
My cycle is on average 27 days, but sometimes as little
as 22 and a couple of times has been 35 days.
I have thought it might have somethign to do with my age
as I am 39.
Any comments or advice welcome.

Sorry you're going through this, it's awful when you feel so sure and then get a bfn.
Probably worth waiting a week and testing again if no AF. Easier said than done I know. I'm trying temping this month to reduce some of the uncertainty.
TBH I'd probably go to the gp and request investigations as you're over 35 and been ttc over 6 months. If AF arrives maybe book an appointment for day3 of your new cycle so they can start the ball rolling with blood tests.
You may have just ovulated late and still in with a chance of a nice surprise.

Hi Kheprii, I'm in a similar situation at the moment. On day 37, 4 BFNs and no AF. I'm going to wait until Wednesday, do another test if AF doesn't show and if it still says BFN go and speak to the doctor. Just want to know what's going on now!

This has happened to me a few times (always when ttc, just perfect to get my hopes up, grrrrr....). Before conceiving current pregnancy I had a 54 day cycle and then a 40 day cycle. Before conceiving first child I had a 40 day cycle ( No explanation, no apparent reason, BFNs all the way). Am usually 29 days. For what it's worth, both times I have conceivedit's been the month after a mad long cycle (probably doesn't mean anything, but it goes to show that it was all very much 'working' despite cycle madness). Both times I've been pregnant the BFP came up when I was a few days late.

It is very frustrating. I do hope you get pregnant soon.

Funny you should say that Shush because it happened to me a lot when TTC. I am convinced it was because I willed AF not to come, and the urge to be pg actually controlled my body for a while. A bit like a phantom pregnancy.
