OPK as HPT...anyone tried this?

I'm not sure how to put this, but anyway, I'm around 8DPO and decided to use an OPK, and it's almost positive...basically the same level as I was getting immediately after my positive mid cycle.

much darker than the ones I had at the beginning of this cycle.

I'm wondering if LH stays around till your next AF or if this is a hopeful sign.
So far HPT have been neg.

Thanks guys Smile

Hi, my friend did this and thought it was strange that the test said she was ovulating again - turned out she wasn't she was pregnant (with twins by the way!).

Yep, happened to me. I ran out of HPT and had a bundle of OPKs so tried one of those at about 12 DPO, and got a very strong positive result. If you have a look at www.peeonastick.com it explains why you can use an OPK as a HPT (but not the other way round) Finger crossed for you.

Thankyou, that's really kind...will see what happens! x

Hi flightty I'm the other odd cycle girl from a thread last week from which you disappeared and I'm holding that against you looking very promising for you. I'm keeping my toes crossed.

Flightty · 03/05/2012 07:33

Purple Blush

I didn't disappear entirely...you guys were having some banter and I was reading and laughing but could think of no more to say...I hope you don't mind Smile

It was a good thread wasn't it?

look Purple don't say ANYthing Ok but I just got the slightest, tiniest ever little line on an hpt just now. I don't know if it's real so I'm going to wander off and make sandwiches and forget about it.

And I'll come back later. I promise. It's probably nothing.

Was a good thread. I really hope this is going to turn out for you. I'm believing it.
Will be watching........

Purpledragon · 03/05/2012 08:01

Oh and make me sandwich would you?

CaveMum · 03/05/2012 08:05

You can use OPKs in this way, but it is not as reliable as a HPT. The thing is you always have LH in your system and this can rise and fall throughout your cycle. A HPT test is the only way to know for sure.

OMG.

I have but it went positive way after a HPT. Good luck all sounds very promising!!!

Flightty · 03/05/2012 09:32

thankyou, just in shock. I did another hpt and it's got a line too.

it's very faint indeed but it shows up on the camera. so it must be there right

bit shaky so am going to try and calm down before telling dp!
also don't quite believe it yet till other people can see it with the naked eye iyswim. I am good at squinting.

Makes sense, I think the OPK is a lot less sensitive as its looking for a surge but the HPT is just looking for the baby chemical. So you would have a positive-ish OPK with a faint line on the HPT. Hurrah! Congratulations x

Purpledragon · 03/05/2012 10:19

Amazing. Congrats.

Flightty · 03/05/2012 11:49

Thankyou Smile

I didn'#t believe it, at all, went for an interview this morning, got an Early bird one from sainsbos and it's come up a clear positive. Which is weird as my 'trusty' internet cheapies were almost invisible...thought they were 10 miu and I rang the earlybird helpline and they're 25.

Anyone make sense of that? OPKs looking less positive than yesterday, if that's any use, as well.

Blimey. Smile

Congratulations! x

helenlouisey · 03/05/2012 16:10

Fantastic news :)

pickles35 · 03/05/2012 17:20

Don't worry I had a super faint line on a cheapy and a clear one on a clear blue and the are 25-50 Smile

Flightty · 03/05/2012 17:27

I'm starting to think the cheapies are a complete con!!! Well at least they're cheap...

OP posts:
pickles35 · 03/05/2012 18:23

I think they say 10 but you get a line so faint you need a microscope! But I suppose they give you an idea of its worth shelling out on one of the big boys!
