I'm considering some new fertility woo. Mainly because a friend who tried it got duffed on her first month of treatment.

I'm quite sceptical about it tbh but desperate . Has anyone else tried it? And if so, can you recommend anyone in central London?

Euro I know 2 friends, both TTC 2 years plus, both had a single session and hey presto - preggers. Who knows if this really made a difference or the timing was just right because both went on to have second DC really quickly with no issues. Hmm

They were recommended by one of their SiL who also had been trying ages and had a positive result.

I am super sceptical too but a year in and nothing, I am tempted to give it a go too. Based up North so not worth giving you the details.

Watching with interest what other ladies say too.

I've not used it to conceive but have had it before and it's strange what they can tell you. I had banged my head and she could tell me from my foot! My chest area was terrible too due to severe asthma, worth a go!

Hi Euro

I recognise you from the ttc 10 months + thread, where I am a long term stalker.

I can't recommend anyone for you as I live in the North. However I have been having reflexology for over a year and would advise anyone in our shoes to do the same.

I have been ttc for 2 tears and had a miscarriage after 1st month of ttc - nothing since. Like all of us, I find TTC stressful and overwhelming. I went to refelxology after a year to see if it could help. To be honest it hasn't directly helped so far BUT this is because I now know I have a significant tubal problem - this was found at HSG in Januray 2012. It is called hydrosalpinx - I was devestated to find this out.

Back to refelxology - I find it to be a holistic and whole experience which helps me value myself in spite of TTC whilst focusing on TTC if that makes sense. It has also enabled me to fully come to terms with my miscarriage. My reflexologist has given me loads of practical ideas and has given us lots of emotional support when we have been going through tests - this has been invaluable as Dr's can be so cold and clinical and it is possible to be left feeling worse than ever.

I am now half way though my first cycle of IVF. Just finished my downregging stage (womb linning minimal and ovaries asleep). From Friday I will begin the stimming phase. I am trying to stay positive as this is realistcly the best chance we have of conceiving a baby. However having a hydrosalpinx does reduce our chances due to toxins which can be released and destroy embryos.

My reflexologist is seeing me weekly now. This week she will focus on develoing the womb lining and stimulating the hormones to compliment the new drugs and next phase of the IVF cycle. She strongly feels that 'fertile soil' is essential - she thinks IVF is great but the drugs alone are not always enough. She claims to have a good recod with women she has worked with who have gone through IVF. There are some research articles to back this up. She also advocates no work and lots of rests during thw 2ww post IVF.

Do give reflexology a try - it may make you feel so much better and improve your outlook - which in itself is a success. And yes, I also believe it can help people to conceive where there are no significant fertility issues.

I have seen some of your posts on the TTC + forum so do have a vague idea of what your story is (sorry hope that doesn't sound too stalkerish). I really wish I'd joined you guys earlier but feel like I have left it too long now. I have posted here and there.

I use to see IVF as a big bad thing. I had physical and moral concerns about doing it. Now I am on my first cycle and my mindset has completely changed.

Wow - sorry for crazy long post - please feel free to PM / ignore me.

Take Care Sarlat x

Just adding here euro to say that this is going to be my first port of call after the myo op. I like acupuncture and my acupuncturist and want to keep going monthly but it hasn't got me pregnant and whilst I think I do feel better after a trip, the experience isn't as enjoyable as someone rubbing my feet! So instead of two acu sessions I'm going for one of each, I found a fertility one oop north. sarlet you are not too late at all to come and join us! Ivf is big and brave and I'm sure some company would be helpful. I wish you all the very best with this cycle and feel glad the reflexology is being so supportive. Do let us know how you get on.

Bizarrely, I was recommend reflexology for fertility yesterday by my bikini waxer Hmm. She knew of several people who had used it successfully to get pregnant. This was at an Aveda salon so there must be one of these in central London?
Am thinking of starting this after my clinic visit next week, once we know what the next steps for us are re IVF.

iloveberries · 03/05/2012 12:51

Hi euro - I started having reflexology when TTC - more to manage the stress going on elsewhere in my life than to fall pregnant but i did fall pregnant 2 months after starting the reflexology. Of course that might not be the reason but either way i found it an enjoyable and relaxing experience and the reflexologist was someone safe i could talk to about everything i couldn't tell anyone else. Unfortunately the pregnancy didn't end with a baby but when i am ready to TTC again I will be continuing the reflexology.
At worst it's £30 a week for a relaxing treatment :)

I've just booked my first Reflexology session for next week, have been TTC for almost 18 months with no success. I have thyroid problems and currently dont seem to be ovulating.. thought it was worth a go !! Smile
