Ovulation symptoms yet OPK says no

Since TTC, I have been monitoring my cycle closely and can usually tell when I'm ovulating. It's always exactly 12 days exactly after my period but this cycle has been confusing. I have seen EWCM on both CD8 and 9 which is so strange but I used an OPK today but it came up negative. Has anyone had this experience? Can I ovulate without the OPK picking it up.

You could ovulate without the OPK picking it up. A positive OPK shows that ovulation will happen in 12-36 hours - ie it can only predict is happening in the future. So you may be ovulating but if you didn't use the OPK til now it won't pick it up. Also you should pee on it at about 2-4pm which is when the levels are highest in the urine. And some women never get a positive OPK! If you have EWCM, that is a really good sign you are ovulating.

Thanks Squrriel for that information but that sucks because I don't see my DH till Tuesday and I thought I would be ovulating then. I never expected to ovulate on CD8 when my cycle is 26-28 days. Oh well!

Don't worry - I sometimes have 4-5 days EWCM before ovulation so you could still catch the egg! Keep peeing on those sticks!

Are you temping as well? I have found that a great way to understand my cycle.

Thanks Squirrel, to be honest, I am just down about the whole TTC process. I don't know what OPK means anymore. I got pregnant on the 1st of Jan, POAS for ovulation for 3 days and on the 4th and 5th day, I think, I got the smiley on the CB digi. How I conceived "before" ovulation is anyone's guess.

Joyful, I NEVER got a +ive with an OPK but got loads of EWCM, so just went for it.

DD is now coming up to 3 . As a consequence, I would never use OPKs now but go by what my body is telling me.

However, bear in mind that if you've DTD that can also have the effect of EWCM in the next day... Sorry if TMI .
