Any silent bbt thermometers out there?

I'm giving temping a try this month (ttc no2 cycle4) and the beeping is waking DH. It beeps when it turns on and off and 4 beeps when the temp is reached. Obviously need to use in the dark so ideal would be one with flashy light or something to tell me it was done.
I suppose the alternative is a mercury thermometer and just use for a whole 5 mins on the clock.
Anyone else had this problem and found a solution? Please!

I have a "babymad" one from amazon. It only beep 3 x in total. Once when you turn it on, once when it has finished taking your temp and again when it turns off. You need a proper bbt one that reads to 2 decimal places. Also it has to been p to let you know when it's finished reading, if you kept taking it out your mouth it would be less accurate. I take my temp with my head under the covers. Seems to disturb DH less.

Oh and I use the light on my mobile to read it. I record temps on the fertility friend app in my phone do have my phone out ready anyway.

Thanks bonzo, any less beeps are good! Have tried under covers but it's still pretty loud. Will try the babymad one f there's no silent ones out there. You'd think it'd be a pretty good selling point!

This made me laugh Grin Same problem. I switch it on under the pillow then press the button as quick as I can to stop it beeping! I feel a bit daft really....

Didn't think of switching it off to stop the finished beeps. Thanks, at least that'll reduce the noise!

Just tried it, but unfortunately it won't then hold the temp to read later. Must need the 4 beeps to get recall. Oh well. May have to abandon temping I think.

Does your DH work shifts or is his sleep particularly precious? I'm just asking because temping is a good way to learn your cycle and it seems a shame to abandon it for this reason. I agree that its mildly annoying, but he's making this baby too. My hub pokes me in the morning to remind me to temp if I've slept through the alarm.

MagnumIcecreamAddict · 29/04/2012 13:39

DH not really whinging, but he sleeps very lightly after about 5am and can't get back to sleep. He really didn't like me doing opks as felt too much pressure, but is fine with temping, but not keen on the beep. I just wanted to do it quietly!
He feels, very reasonably that we should go with the every other day approach but I'm very irregular and it drives me bonkers that I don't know when my period is due, and so when I might be late.....so many wasted HPTs!
