How do you know if you're not ovulating?

Hi all,
I've had problems with irregular periods since they began (I was 11, am now 28). Over the last 18 months or so, they've started to get more regular (now between 26-32 day cycle, was 24-49). However, now that we are ttc (since January), I've been checking my cm and have only had ewcm once. Does this mean I've only ovulated once or could it be something else like low-quality cm for instance? Is a cycle without ovulation different in length to a normal one?

So many questions, sorry. Just a bit confused :/

I use to take my temperature each morning . A raise in temp showed you ovulated .'Taking charge of your fertility' is a great book . As is the website Fertility Friends .

The most certain way is to take a blood test 7 days after you think you have ovulated. The progesterone level should be 30+ to confirm ovulation. But most GPs won't order blood tests until you have been trying for a year if you are under 30.

EWCM and a hormone surge picked up on an opk are good signs that you are probably ovulating but are not definitive (and you can ovulate without them).

Temping is a good way to get to know your cycle better. Have a look at fertility friend to see if it is for you.
