How often do you use opk?

My cycle is 31 days so it says to test from today which I will but how often do I do it after that, tomorrow or every other day? From reading on net it seems to be every other day but on instructions it says every day until I get a positive.

Also, I've read it's best to test between 2-4 but that won't be possible for work. I'm aiming for around 5:30 each day but does it matter if it's not at the same time (or am I getting muddled with temping)?

Any advice would be great.x

Definitely every day. The surge often doesn't last very long. When I am doing IUI, my clinic tells me to test twice a day to make sure I catch the surge on the way up and can give them as much notice as possible to arrange the IUI.

It doesn't need to be at the same time each day but I have heard that you are most likely to catch the surge around 2-4pm. I test at work. Are you not allowed loo breaks?

I'm a teacher and do after school classes/ meetings most nights. Although I could quickly nip to the loo I wouldn't be able to wait for ten minutes with it on a flat surface or stick it on the table of a meeting revision class! So is the idea that you dtd as much as possible around the surge?

PS- I should add that I'm ill today hence at home, not typing at work!

When I need to test at work I carry round some plastic cups and ov sticks in my bag Grin

But does it not have to lie flat afterwards? Or does that not really matter?

Also, is that right that you dtd as much as possible around the surge as it is a sign that ov has happened/ is about to happen?

The surge usualy comes a short while before ov, so if you are not already on the dtd case by that point, you should get going and keep going for the next few days.

I use the digi opks and they take much less than 10 mins to work.

Could you nip to the loo and do the test, then wrap it in a freezer bag or something and pop it flat back in your bag if you have a type that takes 10 mins? I'm sure you could manage a surrepticious glance in your handbag! Wink

Yes that's a good idea. I'm going to order some different ones anyway as I just grabbed some from ASDS so I had some in. Are digi ones expensive? On my instructions it says lie flat and read at 10mins, not after 15 so I suppose I could have a cheeky wee peak Wink

I usually rest mine on the packet on the back of the cistern, been using the clear blue ones this month and they can be held downwards, I work I'm for a big company so can easily disappear for ten mins.

I think the surge happens before ov, my clear blue instructions say to dtd anytime within the next 48hrs of getting a smiley so like to up our game once the smiley appears Grin

Right, I think I feel a bit better informed now. I defo need to get my hands on some more opks over the next couple of days as if I do it twice a day I only have enough for a day and a half.

every day at 2.30 from CD10 to when I get a positive and then till I get no smiley face.
