Anyone else had erratic cycles & spotting since TTC?

So this is driving me absolutely mad!!

I had fairly regular cycles for a couple of years when using barrier method contraception with an OH who had no interest in children. We broke up and after 18 months single I now have had a lovely OH who wants exactly the same thing as me ... a big, happy family.

We have been SWI for 6 months now and had a CP which ended around 7 weeks end of Feb, AF came on time a month later and now I'm on day 32 of the second cycle since. I have had spotting at around days 17 - 20 and no BFP despite no sign of AF. In the mean time so many FB friends announcing their pregnancies and posting trackers.

Has anyone else felt in limbo and feeling like pregnancy is something that happens to other people?

Oh yes, it is like an exclusive club I can only peer through the window to. We have been ttc since August, last cycle I was over 2 weeks late :( I have joined the 2013 baby thread now, we will do it!

It does seem more positive to aim for a nice big 12 month window. Wish I could just relax and not think about it. Much easier said than done.

i too have had this but early bleeds, heavier than normal to the point of low ferretin levels and had all test under sun and still not happening! i wish i could go a day without thinking about trying to concieve its impossible . Goodluck for us all in 2013x

I worry that if I forgot for a day I would eat blue cheese, drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes and take medicine then mess up whatever chance I had with the tiny baby I had obviously forgotten about!

2013 baby would be perfect. Have multiples on both sides so maybe even a couple will come to make up for the wait Smile

I am CD33 and not quite given up yet. Last chance for a 2012 EDU. May relax when/if AF arrives. Seriously tetchy!!

I think the thing is that when you start TTC you actually pay attention to your cycle.
I was on the pill for a million years, but when I wasn't I never used to know when AF was due. I just used to get that vibe a couple of days before. In fact my boyfriend of the time knew better than I did. He would remind me!

But yes, pregnancy is something that happens to other people. Two very close friends have just had/are expecting babies. One was kind of avoiding and one tried for two months!

CD35 - no AF. Think I'll treat myself to another test today but will expect a negative.
Symptoms are stacking up but I am completely aware that these are most likely psychological.
2 more Facebook friends announced pregnancies since my last post - all surprised and not trying. However a friend also messaged me to say she was losing a baby and that puts my "stress" into perspective. What I am experiencing is anticipation not loss and I am very lucky.

pipbin I agree I am paying attention to my cycles, I'm sure I have gone beyond 35 days and not thought anything of it and that my "ovulation/implantation/stretching/double ovulation etc." pains are wind. He he Smile

I also think that when you are TTC you pay far more attention to cycle length/spotting/irregularities than you do when you are not TTC and just don't notice that sort of stuff.

Bugoven, you do know that you don't have to stop with the blue cheese/alcohol etc before you get a pg result? Between conception and a positive test the embryo isn't even plugged into your blood supply properly (it takes at least 7 days to implant), so you can't do it any harm with any of those things that you have to stop once pregnant...personally I think there's far more risk of driving oneself mad if one treads on eggshells when still TTC...

bugoven · 27/04/2012 18:08

I keep reading that some people didn't get their BFPs until much later though... I will try not to go mad and breaking bad habits. For example have stopped buying CB tests as they all look positive to me even though it's just an evap line or something Blush
