I'm having one of these in 2 weeks. We've been referred to our local fertility unit and my history suggests I may have either endometriosis or possibly PCOS, but they can't be sure until they perform this op. Been trying for 3 years, one miscarriage.

I'm terrified, never had anything ever done at the hospital!

Have you had one? If so I would be very grateful to hear some experiences.

Many thanks. :)

Hi ya,
I had it done in Dec. Wasn't bad at all. Went in at 12 & home at 6. Felt like period pain when I came round. Slow movement & sore first few days. Was up & about in a few days. Next period came on time & got preg after that (sadly mc @6 weeks)
I must add I had PCOS but lap & dye proved cysts have now gone & I didn't need anything done. Small scar thats still pretty pink even after lots of bio-oil.
Drink peppermint tea to help with bloating & gas!
Any questions 7 i'll try to answer best I can!

Hi louP, I had one nearly two weeks ago and like Fairy found that it wasn't as bad as I had built myself up for. I've been fine since about 5 or so days after, just a bit sore and bloated up til that point. I was in and out the same day. Not had a period yet, it's on it's way though then we've been told to try hard for six months and see how we get on. I had endo and my ovary was stuck to my bowel but they've given me a good spring clean. Word of warning! If you wake up and you have brown around your bottom - you haven't pooped yourself, it's iodine! I completely freaked out until a nurse told me that it's just spilled over from when they cleaned my belly Blush you will also have a bit of blue ink around from them flushing your tubes :) best of luck xx

Hi LouP. I had a lap & dye yesterday, went into theatre at 3.30pm and was discharged by 6.30pm. They didn't find anything apart from a small cyst on my ovary so I didn't need any treatment during the procedure. I had an ectopic pregnancy last year and needed my tube removing via laprascopic surgery. The pain from bloating/gas was horrendous after that so I was expecting the same this time but I've been pleasantly surprised! I am bloated and tender but it's not too bad and I've found that a combination of paracetamol, ibuprofen and Wind Eze tablets are keeping me relatively comfortable! I found Iodine everywhere too - it stains so make sure you take dark underwear/clothes to go home in! Good luck, I really hope yours go well and that they find a nice treatable cause for your fertility troubles Smile

Brilliant, thanks for the advice. I had my pre-op this afternoon and they reassured me a bit there too. Luckily we're going on holiday next week so I can try to stop thinking about it! My main fear oddly enough is that they don't find anything. However, it is now Day 13 of my cycle and I've started bleeding and it feels like another period, so I think something is up with me down there,...........!

Thanks again.

Should have mentioned that often it 'clears things out' apparently... :) x
