Ovulation and CM question.

I have been monitoring my ovulation for the past 7 months using OPK sticks.

The first 5 months I had 28 day cycles with ovulation on about CD19. Then cycle 5 I went to a 35 day cycle. Then went back to 28 days however this cycle I ovulated on cd9 according to my OPK sticks.

Now on CD19 and had what seems like EWCM for the day but no positive OPK stick.

So my question, did I ovulate CD9 or 19? Or is the EWCM not fertile EWCM?

Why does the days drag when on the 2ww and ou go crazy with all your body changes through the month.

Hi, I could be either I'm afraid, unless you temp its hard to say as OPKs and EWCM indicate the likely approach of ov, they don't confirm it took place...

This link may help you (plus other Q and A at the same site)

Thanks purpledragon

Did an OPK stick today (cd20) and got a positive. Strange as i had a positve cd9 but action stations it is.

Is that usual to have 2 LH surges in one cycle?

its possible too ovulate more than once in one cycle, Thats how faternal twins happen :o I would be BDing if i was you haha! looks like you may have had two chances this month :)

Purpledragon · 23/04/2012 06:59

....multiple ovulation, if it occurs usually happens within a 24 hour period. I think you are most likely seeing a LH surge that doesnt result in ovulation followed by a second one. As I understand it this is quite common, OPKs never suited me so I can't say from my own experience, but I have seen on other peoples charts.

babaloulou · 23/04/2012 07:57

I was going to ask that question. Surely 10 days between 2 ovulations is too long.

Anyway getting pains in right side and pretty sure I didn't get that earlier in the cycle. So here's hoping this time is the real deal Smile

Fingers crossed for you. It is the advantage of charting - getting a clearer answer to the has-it-hasn't-it question rather than hints of the run up, but its not for everyone and if you can get away without all the better.

OdoItal · 23/04/2012 10:15

just a wild thought - opks also pick up HCG... take an HPT too, just in case?

babaloulou · 23/04/2012 11:17

I have done a HPT which was neg. i got alot of EWCM over sat and sun so pretty sure this is ovulation. Also getting pains on lower right side.

Just hoping we catch the egg and my LT phase isn't too short!

I read last night fraternal twins can be conceived up to 24days apart :). As someone else said though u may have had two surges and only ovulated once. As when u have a surge it doesn't necessarily mean u have released an egg!

Good luck, hoping u get ur BFP very soon

I Will update the thread as i find it annoying when you search a thread and the outcome is never added [Wink]

This annoys me too haha! Will be looking out for your hopfuly happy outcome :)

clickingtock · 23/04/2012 14:20

I don't want to put the frighteners on OP but if you are oving around CD19/20 but AF arrives around CD29 you may be having a short luteal phase. Have you looked into this? I have read that you should be looking for a luteal phase of around 10 days or more... However, I'm not an authority so someone here may correct me. Good luck with TTC.

babaloulou · 23/04/2012 17:53

Yes i am getting the idea that 9 days is not ideal. I was under a fertility doctor after previous 3 miscarriages and he didn't even look at this so not too worried at this stage.
If i think i'm having chem pregnancies or issues I'll go see doc then. I have had 2 successful pregnancies so not worried, yet Xx

Ok - well that sounds good. Just wondering if it might help to investigate a bit further but doesn't sound like there's any need. xx

babaloulou · 06/05/2012 07:54

Ok promised i'd come back and update the thread.
Got a faint positive today dpo 14. So i am assuming i did ovulate on cd20. Going by my periods (not inc Feb) i normally have a 9 day lateal phase so fingers crossed this pregnancy continues and gives hopes to others with short lateal phases.

A BFP? Lovely!

babaloulou · 11/05/2012 07:53

Really sad to post that i am miscarrying so this one wasn't meant to be.
Think i will go to the doctors to discuss short luteal phase.

so sorry to hear that. Look after yourself and rest if you can. there is a lovely thread here. Lots of us who have had mc, some recurrent and are either ttc or pg and worried sick about it. Lots of ladies have experience of home remedies and who to see, what to ask for and how to help yourself. See you there when you feel ready?
