The last couple of threads got lots of people pg. Let's hope this is another lucky one.

Fluff we luff Homelands too, this weeks was so exciting, poor Kerrie proper lost it!!! I think they are leading us in a certain direction but am sure it will twist next week. Can not wait for Sunday!!!

clickingtock · 02/05/2012 10:13

Ok - so I need to catch up with Homelands - where do I start?

Maybe - I think Biscuits is onto something. Check your fanjometer. And get some treatment for trench foot. Yes still in a daze, thanks for asking, but feel excited: trying not to get carried away while staying optimistic... ifykwim. Smile

Off for acupuncture. This tiny bun is going to get the full works, seeing as it's winded up with an old oven of a mammy.

Who else on here was suffering strange sleeping hours..? I seem to wake at 4am and am gurning for a couple of hours before passing out at 6am only to be woken by DS at 6.30am. DP gave me a lie-in til 7.30am today, bless him.

Love to all. xxx

Fluffy hope somehow redundancy fits with your maternity plans and gives you a bit of extra cash!

ScrambledSmegs · 02/05/2012 10:31

Morning! Imps that was very impressive! The MN app for iphone is pretty good, it has some clickable emoticons which can be quite useful.

Maybe is it possible that the batteries are running out on your thermometer? It does seem strange to have exactly the same temp reading for two weeks flat, you'd expect a bit of variation.

Sparks I am sure that you're just testing too early - it all sounds very promising to me! Can you just give yourself a day off testing tomorrow, take the pressure off a bit? And I hope your day is a lot better today.

Beedle sunburn? Envy Even the fact that you're going to get rain today doesn't make that any better!

Geek I hope you're well. I keep missing your posts and I feel so guilty, sorry Blush

Biscuits wow, 8 weeks old! I hope your DS1 isn't going too stir-crazy in the house, and that the spots scab over soon (ick!)

Sweetie DH loves Homeland too, I'm still not convinced but it is getting quite gripping! We need to watch this week's on catch-up, don't tell me what happened!

Fluff Surely being made redundant in pregnancy is a big no-no? I'm not an expert but I would have thought that you would have a great case for sex-discrimination or unfair dismissal at the very least? Nolite te bastardes caborandorum, as the Romans never actually said because it's made up Latin!

I got a bit damp yesterday on my bike, today I'll make sure I'm head to toe in waterproofs! Need to go and buy some of that Neals Yard bump rub stuff today, as I seem to be developing quite the food baby bump already!

whimsicalname · 02/05/2012 10:49

Morning all.
smegs and fluff I got made redundant on mat leave from previous job. It's legal if it's nothing to do with you, for example in my instance they closed the whole consultancy division and got rid of 30 consultants. It actually worked out worse to be pg because there was a previous round on better terms, which would have meant I could have stopped work at 25weeks and still got the same money, but because I was pg, they couldn't / wouldn't do me in the first batch.

I wouldn't have done a PhD otherwise, so it worked out well in the long run. But I appreciate it's a stressful time fluff.

How are you finding your cycling smegs? other than damp, obv.

I'm trying to update my CV today, and I tell you, it's not fun.

Had another bfn this morning, but still no sign of AF.

tock I tend to sleep like a log. A sleepy log. But pg has tended to do funny things to that. I used to go to our allotment at 5 oclock in the morning when I was about 7m with DS1, then be home when my husband was waking up at 7 and have to explain why I was muddy.

Hope you have better days today cartoon and sparks. Or was it calamity having a bad day? There are so many of us to remember!

We love Homeland too. We call Kerrie 'Cousin Kerrie' as the sharp eyed amongst you will notice we share a surname.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 02/05/2012 10:51

smegs yeah it is - and especially on maternity leave, where you get first dibs on any vacancies - but sadly I can see the company itself going under at some point over the next 6-12 months.

maybe try measuring a cup of tea and see if it gives you a different temp?

tock I'm not sure if it's available On Demand, but I'm sure the box set will be available to rent in a month or so? It's well worth a watch.
Could that be the infamous pregnancy insomnia?? :o

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 02/05/2012 10:53

xpost whims - yeah it's nothing to do with me specifically, it's cash flow problems I think we're not really being told anything but tbh the writing's been on the wall for a while

smegs I started getting my bump about 12 weeks too - I could just squeeze into normal clothes but it was uncomfortable to sit down in them! Now I'm pretty mahoosive Envy

whimsicalname · 02/05/2012 11:09

Start siphoning off stationery while you still can fluff

hi imps not sure weve properly met!
loves the gymnastics does every one get that?!

ScrambledSmegs · 02/05/2012 11:21

Sparks if I was brave enough, I would give her a pack of Kotex black sanitary towels, because they were the only thing that let me sit down at all after DD's birth Blush But I don't think that would be appropriate.

The Mumsnet Guide to Babies is very funny and keeps your spirits up after having a baby. Friends of mine who 'hate' MN weirdos found it hilarious and very true. I'm sure it's available in shops as well as online.

Bach Rescue Remedy. The spray one was a lifesaver for me at times.

If you can find them, some little things called Sock-Ons. They're great, keep baby socks on when the little buggers angels are determined to remove them.

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 02/05/2012 11:23

:o whims

sparls go to Boots and get a really nice gift box of bath products - she'll relish having ten lovely minutes to her self to pamper herself, around sleepless nights/feeding/crying etc etc :)

whimsicalname · 02/05/2012 11:23

sparks I always give new mums something just for them, as they've done all the hard work, and they get kind of forgotten. Previous gifts have included some lip gloss and blue mascara (so that when it smudged it just looked like eye shadow), bars of nice choc (if it's milk choc, I say it;s for night feeds), some magazines cos you do spend a lot of time sitting down, and books are a bit taxing (although actually I've always read masses whilst BFing)

Hand cream is a definite good idea, but Mr Whim usually gives that as a manly gift to new dads, for after all the nappy changing. It's his way of making sure they're doing it!

Or some nice pjs? Or just the cash, so she can spend it on something nice when she feels like it.

Or a box of food, like a delivery of bread cheese and soup for an easy lunch.

Gosh, that was lots of ideas.

OP posts:
ScrambledSmegs · 02/05/2012 11:28

YY to handcream. Can get nice posh stuff, but tbh I went through vats of Neutrogena handcream as it was the only stuff that stopped my hands cracking. And I was breastfeeding!

whimsicalname · 02/05/2012 11:31

Lansinoh nipple cream if she's planning on BFing. Costs a fortune, but is the only thing that stops the ends of your nipples peeling off.

Or maybe that's just me.

On a different note, how do I cook pork belly? I posted on food, but noone's taken any notice.

OP posts:
FluffyJawsOfDoom · 02/05/2012 12:00

Jamie Oliver advocates a wang it in the oven type approach? Blush

clickingtock · 02/05/2012 12:04

Absolutely to Lansinoh - but then if she hasn't decided about BFing or doesn't manage it could be a bit awkward... Treats for mum is always a good idea, I think. Someone sent me the most beautiful bunch of flowers with DS and that just bowled me over. We got loads of lovely stuff for him but I can't remember it as well selfish cow. Grin

Solars · 02/05/2012 12:10

Whim there's a Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall recipe on the waitrose website I've used a couple of times.

I have to apologise as I've had no time to read all your posts since I last posted a couple of days ago! I really do wonder how I am going to cope with having a baby around and do other things, I'm finding myself so busy at the moment that I'm started to get annoyed with DH over the littlest of things!

We had a consultant appointment yesterday which at this moment in time I don't even have the time to update you all on, it's left DH and I lots to discuss and perhaps it's that which is starting to get me plus the fact I'm turning 40 towards the end of the year is not helping. On top of that i noticed yesterday afternoon we have ants in the kitchen as well!! I'm off for a sob, maybe that might get it all out my system...sorry to be a downer :(

NoMaybeAboutIt · 02/05/2012 12:12

link to my chart for those who would like a looky.

Ooooh, pork bellyWhim. One of my faves. It's really nice if you get a pestle and mortar and bash up a load of herbs or spices with some salt, depending what mood you are in. I like garlic and sage, or a blend of cumin, corriander seed, paprika, mustard and vinegar. Nom. Then I just bung it in a really low oven and let it cook for ages, then whack up the heat to srisp the crackling. Sorry for my very non-precise instructions there!

Sparks what a lovely little hamper you have going there. Wifh my SIL I made her up a little thing with some nice bath stuff and a yankee candle so that when she found a moment to herself she could relax! Oh, and my SIL swore by Lansinoh too

NoMaybeAboutIt · 02/05/2012 12:13

Oh Solars I hope you are ok lovely. When you feel ready, do come back and talk to us all. And sometimes a good cry is just what you need x

FluffyJawsOfDoom · 02/05/2012 12:22

Oh solars :( I hope you feel a bit happier soon, sometimes it helps to get it all out. I'm sure when you have a baby you'll make time, iykwim? So don't worry about that at all.

cartoonface · 02/05/2012 12:23

totes out of the blue question, im guessing some of you (or all) are married did anyone walk to the aisle to anything but the traditional wedding march. i want something different

NoMaybeAboutIt · 02/05/2012 12:26

I walked up to Pachelbel's Canon in D. Makes me well up whenever I think about it
