Does an OV stick test for the same hormone/chemical as a PG test?

I peed on an OV stick 9 days ago and got a smiley face (am on Clomid to make me ovulate) which was great news.

Have been a bit 'gooey' (sorry) for the past 2 days so have just peed on another stick just out of curiosity and got another smiley face.....

so, either they are a load of bollocks, I've ovulated twice this month 9 days apart or something else............

suggestions please!

Not specifially, OV sticks test for LH and PG tests test for HCG.

BUT HCG does show up on and OV stick. This doesn't work the other way round though, a PG test won't show up anything but HCG.

If you're taking a trigger shot along with the Clomid then it may be the HCG in the trigger shot that's not out of your system yet showing up on the test. I think it takes about a week for that to be out of your system.

Another possibility may be that the Clomid stimulated more than one follicle and the second or third one was smaller and so maturing later.

If you got your first smiley face 9 days ago, you probably ovulated 7-8 days ago which would be very early to get a +ve PG test.

Best thing, painful as it is, is to wait until 10dpo and then test with a First Response test if you still feel squiffy.

Ahh, you said gooey, that's not the same as squiffy! lol.

Nope, they test for different things as kittens says.

Do you have PCOS? PCOS-ers are known to get multiple positives on OPKs due to multiple surges of LH.

CaipirinhasAllRound · 13/04/2012 18:57

no I don't have POCS
guessing it's the clomid playing tricks on me

Um, is it possible the Clomid has made you release 2 eggs? (it's known to raise risk of multiple birth, presumably for this reason...)
