DP and I have started trying to conceive, we've only been trying for a month but we thought I might be pregnant as it seemed like I was having some signs (metallic taste in mouth, really tired and hungry), but I've just got my period and I feel really sad now. Obviously I was just imagining the early signs or it was wishful thinking.

I've only been trying for a month fgs, I know I need to get a grip but I am a bit upset. Please give me a good kick up the backside and tell me to stop being so silly.

Your reaction sounds quite normal! Every month I am a bit like this and get annoyed with myself. Think of today as the first day of the next cycle, pour yourself a nice Wine tonight and look forward to another month of shagging!

Have you joined any of the ttc threads? I am finding it quite helpful to chat with others in the same situation (i.e. obsessing about symptoms!).

Thanks Lizard, that is a much better way of thinking about it. I might pop over to one of the ttc threads too and say hi.

Might sound nuts but after crazy symptom spotting last month (fuelled by hanging out on boards, something which I had never none before), I now have a whole list of subjective 'symptoms', which I actively ignore this month! Cut the list of possible signs massively.

Don't worry totally normal-you will find yourself symptom spotting every month. I have been ttc for a year now, this month I'm sure I feel
nauseous and extremely tired, you think I would have learnt by now! In sure this will be followed by AF in a few days! Like someone said earlier AF arrival is the sign of a new cycle try to be sad! X

Thanks everyone, maybe I should just make an effort to ignore any other signs I think I have and just wait to see if I get the two big ones, no period and bfp, rather than getting my hopes up - easier said than done though!

I got a BFP this month, after 18 months of trying. Nothing felt different at all from the other cycles, and I had no symptoms at all. I tried to take a step back each month and not put to much faith in symptoms. You don't need them to get a BFP.

Good luck, and remember af means day 1 of your pregnancy.

You might not be imagining the symptoms, I've found taking folic acid gives me a lot of those symptoms. I think it's very exciting initially and you hear so many within five minutes of coming off the pill I was diffed you do think it'll happen to you. I've been ttc for over two years and I still feel disappointed even during the time when we knew medically there was no real chance of success I think you just learn to live with it. Some women get lots of symptoms before a bfp, some get very little so it's easy to get confused!
Good luck with ttc, I agree you should hop on a bus/space shuttle/ nice thread!
