2ww and alcohol

What is everyones thoughts on drinking a few glasses of wine during the 2ww?

AF is due next week, so I'm probably around 7dpo, not even a sniff of a symptom to spot.

I've given up alcohol now to prepare for IVF but I carried on drinking moderately for over a year of ttc. If it takes a while, you can end up living as "prepregnant" for a long time and that just makes the monthly disappointment worse, imo. An embryo takes a few days to implant after ov and a while longer to share your blood stream, so I don't see any medical reason why drinking in the 2ww should be any different to drinking before ov.

I have a glass of wine/ beer if I fancy pre or post ov. I've cut down generally on my alcohol consumption given we're ttc but there has to be a balance IMO. I'm in agreement with eurochick.

Thanks for the replies - I had half a glass of wine this evening and felt sick. I think it was the guilt of what could be!

TTC for such a long time is already miserable, so the occasional glass of wine cheers things up somewhat. It's unlikely to do any harm anyway.

You can't spend half of every month being "potentially pregnant" and giving everything up. Until you get to the stage of having a positive pregnancy test the fertilized egg is still wafting down your fallopian tubes and not actually connected to your blood supply yet.

If you are going on total benders you might be harming your chances. if you are having a couple of glasses of wine of an evening then that is totally fine.
