Weird one, the first day of my LMP was Sunday 18th March and I came off on Friday 23rd March, dh and I trying for baby and at the weekend I had a tingling sensation in my nipples and my boobs are tender. Also my mum in law has a scary nack of being able to tell when someone is pregnant......as in always knows and i mean always, even before the woman!!! She says my face is different, my nose is pinched and she thinks im pregnant, is it possible to be having the symptoms already as im not due for another period til 14th April, HELP please {confused}

Is it 10 days since your period finished? You could be. Try a firstvresponse early response test. If you have 28 day cycles and it's 4 days til your periods due, it might work.

Claire129 · 02/04/2012 20:32

my period finished 11 days ago, due again on 14th April so still got a 12 day wait, but im eager to know after an awful start to the year, this would make my year for sure :D

Hi there, I started getting symptoms when I was 3 weeks: metallic taste in mouth, feeling all soppy and soft, change in complexion, feeling cold (rather than in a permanent hot flush), changes in appetite plus your normal pre-period symptoms.

I could tell my friend was pregnant from her face when she was 3 weeks, too.

Hope it's good news, good luck!

Rudawakening · 02/04/2012 20:49

If your period was 18/03 and your period is 14/04 then you are have just gone past the middle of your cycle, sorry to say but it is highly unlikely you would know you were pregnant yet as the egg wouldn't have implanted unless you ovulated very very early in your cycle.

Do you use opk's to know when you ovulate?

Claire129 · 02/04/2012 20:53

no i dont know how to do that, just going on how my body reacts in the mth. I also thought this too but my mum in la2w always gets it right and hoping shes right again

I've been pregnant three times already this year (!) - currently 5 wks and had two early losses in Jan and Feb. All three times I started feeling unwell in a really distinctive way either 2 or 3 days past ovulation. The first time we thought it was just coincidence as it seemed way too soon but the main symptoms - hungry, hot, dizzy and nauseous - were just the same every time. I also had a sore throat the first couple of times which was less noticeable this time. Feeling very, very tired followed a few days later.

Obviously symptoms that early are not caused by HCG as you have not implanted yet, but as soon as you conceive the embryo (or blastocyst or whatever it's called) starts sending out signals to produce extra progesterone. So women who feel different v. v. early are probably just a bit more sensitive than average and are responding to this.

So yes, it's possible, but it's worth remembering that because such early symptoms are not produced by HCG you can get them even if implantation doesn't succeed. In both Jan and Feb I felt increasingly ill, got a faint positive around when my period was due, but started bleeding a few days later. The sickness stopped within 24 hours of the bleeding starting each time. Obviously the embryo had started to implant but not fully succeeded. This time I got a much stronger positive much earlier and feel more positive about it (and even more ill!).

My view is that I'm not very good at having a complete rest and these v. early symptoms were a way of getting me to let up a bit.

Wiggy29 · 02/04/2012 21:09

kalidasa- just read your post, so sorry about your mc. You're making me reconsider my idea of testing this Friday (due Sunday/ Monday). I thought knowing would save me a nervous wait for period but I'd be pretty gutted if I got a faint positive but then my period came. I might just wait now and test only if it doesn't show.

Jo178 · 02/04/2012 21:10

I got a very faint positive 6 days before my period was due using First Response Early Result followed by a positive on a Clearblue Digital on the day my period was due. Good luck, keeping everything crossed for you!

Rudawakening · 02/04/2012 21:12

Claire not saying it isn't possible and that you're not pg but that it will be too early to test. As kalidasa says if the egg was fertilised your body will start to produce more progesterone which coud cause your symptoms but it also old be the extra hormones produced at ovulation that caused them.

Unfortunately no one has a crystal ball so you will have to wait with the rest of us Grin

kalidasa · 03/04/2012 06:07

Hi Wiggy. Thanks. Mostly I feel fairly philosophical about it and assume that conceptions that don't work very early on are a) a good sign that everything is basically working; and b) almost certainly for the best (i.e that there was something not right). Apparently they think that 50 or even 60% of all conceptions are lost very very early, many before or during implantation, and of course mostly you'd have no idea.

I think in general it's a good idea to save yourself the heart ache and wait to test. In my case, my symptoms were so strong so quickly that the actual test was a bit irrelevant to be honest. Either I was pregnant or really ill!

On the other hand, if you've been trying for a while I think it can be worth knowing about early losses because from the medical point of view there's a difference between never conceiving and conceiving but then losing them early on. If you've only started trying recently though I wouldn't worry about that.

Good luck! Hope you get the result you want and that your MIL is right!

oikopolis · 03/04/2012 18:29

i started falling asleep all over the place 7 days after ovulation. got a positive test 4 days after that. i think the fertilized egg does release some hormones even before it implants... not sure though.

Janoschi · 04/04/2012 23:57

I got a faint positive a week before my period was due. I'd miscarried a few months earlier and was terrified!

You're supposed to wait at least until you're due your period before testing but I woke up one morning just KNOWING I was pregnant. No idea why, I just felt... different. Tingly. Just not 'me'.

So I crept out of bed, took the test, saw the cross, took a deep breath and went back to bed! Told DP a few hours later. On the day I was due my period I tested again with a stronger result.

But you CAN know you're pregnant before your period. Absolutely.

Good luck!

startail · 05/04/2012 00:35

Both times I felt a bit like I had flu, light headed weird and out of it, but no temperature around the time my period was due. Only lasted a few hours.

Much more obvious than the vague feeling off that comes the day before my period.

I also got very sensitive breasts very early on again probably really noticeably only for a few hours. I distinctly remember having a lift home one evening and think "Oh yes this happened last time", really odd.

Hai1988 · 12/04/2012 10:45

Hi claire any news? [Smile]

Flightty · 13/04/2012 09:55

I dunno....the times I was pregnant I had very few symptoms. Fewer than normal. Not sure why. Maybe the hormones balance differently or something.

there have been a lot of times I've thought I was definitely pregnant, including last month and I haven't been at all.

So it can play tricks on you.

Claire129 · 15/05/2012 14:22

Congratulations Claire. Thats great news. Hope the pregnancy goes well. Im good thanks. Still TTC. My body has been a bit weird lately. Sensitive boobs, cramps about a week ago although they have stopped now. You said in your previous post you had bad complexion? Does that mean you were spotty. For some reason I have broke out in spots. I stopped the pill late January so it may be my body adjusting.

Claire129 · 29/05/2012 21:18

Thanks so much I am over the moon just feeling dreadful at the mo (shattered and nausea). Fingers crossed that these are all good signs for you and yes my complexion was awful, really spotty. Thought I was going to come on til I read its also a pregnancy sign. Still getting the odd spot now too. Let us know how you get on and I will be keeping all my fingers crossed for you. Good luck hun and if you need to chat im here :D
