Metformin for PCOS - how long before you feel normal again?

Hi

Am trying metformin to help cycles/short luteal phase. Feeling v tired/on and off sick since I started, which was only a few days ago.

Taking half a tablet 3 times a day to start, then moving onto a whole tablet x 3 times.

Think this is normal from what I have read, but wondered if any PCOSers on here experienced this and how long it lasted? And any tips for managing it..?

Have assumed that I'll get used to it and feel "normal" again at some point.

TIA

Hi, I'm in the same boat :)

It took me about a week to get used to it, am now 3 x 500 mg a day. I now feel "normal" again :)

I didn't really feel sick but had lots of diarrhoea! It has now calmed down. I did take imodium a couple of days because it was getting in the way of work but it seems to be OK anyway now. I do recommend you take them on a full stomach though.

It seems to affect us all a bit differently but the main issue is the gastrointestinal side effects. It's a real pain but it will all be worth it when we get our BFP's!!

Hi Maghribia

Sorry for the lack of response. Thanks for your feedback. I am starting to feel ok. Had my blood test yest to check all is ok with my kidneys etc. How are you now feeling?

VERY delighted that I appear to be ovulating on day 21, which is much earlier than my day 29 of the last cycle. SOOOOO pleased. It is only the first month of metformin and vit b6 (to hopefully help lengthen my luteal phase) so it could be fluke, but I'll take anything as a good sign at this point!!

Fingers crossed for us both.
