I'll tell you if you tell me why this is in conception...

:o

ScarlettInSpace · 30/03/2012 19:15

Because I'm TTC and I keep seeing people here saying they can't have peas Smile

Lol I'm not a total mentalist posting pea related threads in random places Grin

hahaha, okaaaaaay. Can't say I ever noticed anyone avoiding peas when ttc. I certainly didn't.

iloveminieggs · 30/03/2012 19:37

After studies in Tibet found very low pregnancy rate. They say they release a hormone which is like a natural contraceptive. Banned in my house for me and DH!

headfairy · 30/03/2012 19:48

Is it the same reason soya isn't good when ttc (or edamame beans or whatever)?

I love peas. Perhaps that's why I've been ttc for 15 months :(

On the other hand, I have a colleague who loves peas (I don't know why I know this about her) and she is 19 weeks pregnant.

OK - no more peas for a month or two.

Minshu · 30/03/2012 22:59

and I did have peas with my fish and chips earlier :(

iloveminieggs · 31/03/2012 10:00

I'm not sure of exact reasons for soya but I know it's in the avoid list!

ScarlettInSpace · 31/03/2012 13:03

I had peas last night too. And Wine.

I love that you know your colleague loves peas minshu

Peas? What the jeff?

I love peas. Oh Lordy. Seems there's something else ot add to the list of things to avoid.

But why?

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 31/03/2012 22:36

I have never heard this in 2 years TTC.

Though perhaps this is where we have been going wrong....Hmm

MadameBoolala · 31/03/2012 22:43

Well blow me. I feel like I may have found the ANSWER. Rie, it's got to be worth a go.

Unless of course you are taking the peas OP.

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 31/03/2012 22:46

Well I never! They affect men too!

ScarlettInSpace · 01/04/2012 01:18

O My F'ing G

What have I done?

Peas are evil.....

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 01/04/2012 11:14

That's it Boo! This is now a pea free zone.

onedaybaby · 01/04/2012 11:20

Did someone say Soya? Crikey, we have a lot of soya sauce...and peas...and no sign of a BFP during 2 years of TTC. Hmm

ScarlettInSpace · 02/04/2012 22:29

I let the side down again.

There were peas in my fried rice and I put soya sauce on my pancake roll this evening [not a euphemism Grin ]

I have done two minutes of Dr Google on this topic as I clearly have too much time on my hands.

I found one article referring to someone with no medical qualifications who had suggested peas were the enemy. I found another site saying peas were a good source of manganese that helps with estrogen production.

There is no "avoid" list apart from cigarettes, excessive boozing and drugs. Just eat a sensible balanced diet with a range of fruit and veg.

I suspect you would have to eat a hell of a lot of peas to get any contraceptive effect from them. And I dread to think what other effects doing that would give you.

Actually I have too much time on my hands because I have googled Sarah Dobbyns fertility diet and it doesn't sound like much of a laugh at all. By month three you've got no meat, no dairy, no peas, no alcohol, no caffeinated beverages, no sugar etc and you then have to cut down on eggs and fruit juices.

I wouldn't have the energy to have a shag on that diet personally. And that would NOT help fertility. This woman thinks her magic diet will allow you to delay childbearing until whenever you like. She even suggests it will help people have children in their 50s. Which is virtually impossible.

I'm sure having a healthy diet is important for your fertility (and general health) but please don't believe any bollocks you read on the internet.

KatAndKit · 03/04/2012 08:58

oh dear I clearly do have too much time on my hands. I see you are all taking the peas and I have gone and taken the OP seriously! Blush

Don't give peas a chance though. They are minging. Horrid green things. I would go with carrots personally.

Purpledragon · 03/04/2012 09:23

Carrots, oh no not carrots. I have been shagging for a thousand years without making babies. I have also eaten few carrots. Yes, that must be it. X

MadameBoolala · 03/04/2012 15:37

In all seriousness Kat I'm that desperate that if giving up peas ups my chances, I'm in like Flynn :o

ScarlettInSpace · 03/04/2012 18:38

kat I really wasn't taking the mick, it is something I've genuinely seen mentioned on here more than once Smile thanks for the info, I think you are right re general healthy diet, lay off the fags and try to stop drinking alcohol!

I have another question though, why shouldn't I have a good hot bath during TTC? Is it cos the temp kills off all the tadpoles that are lurking waiting for an oeuf? Or is it another reason? Life still has go on ultimately!

OP posts:
KatAndKit · 03/04/2012 18:42

There is no reason why you shouldn't have a bath during ttc. A bath never did anyone any harm. A few generations ago showers were not the norm and people had baths and they even managed a baby boom.
You can even have baths when you are up the duff.
Unless you emerge from them with injuries to your skin, I doubt your bath is too hot.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 03/04/2012 18:44

I would quite honestly rather have no babies ever than give up all on Sarah Wotzerface's list. So flame me
