Whole Milk and TTC?

Ive always eaten lots of whole milk products when TTC as I remember reading it helped with female fertility.

TBH it seemed to work. Anyone else has success after switching to full fat?

What's the science behind it?

I don't know. We only have whole milk, as DH doesn't like semi or skimmed. Whole milks only 4% fat, so rather than buy two bottles, I have the whole milk too. I don't drink much of it anyway. I've read that whole milk is healthier than skimmed, as the nutrients are not taken out.

I suspect it's a placebo effect.

Hello. As far as I understand it there is some evidence that removing the fat from milk has been shown to cause an imbalance of hormones which can result in a failure to ovulate or produce a healthy egg.

I'm on the full fat milk band wagon as I'm preparing for IVF and have convinced myself that it is beneficial to egg quality. I've been drinking a glass of hot milk every evening (wild life I lead !) but actually think I should be drinking in greater quanties than this for it to have any chance of an effect ..... !! I've been reading about people drinking a litre a day (goodness, where do they get the time for all this milk drinking ?!!)

If anyone knows then please do share !!

I'm currently doing ivf and had to have a litre of milk a day, the clinic said it didn't matter whether it was skinned or full fat, what is important is the amount of protein.

I'm lactose intolerant, so it's a no from me! I have sen one study which suggests it helps, but then I have also seen many studies saying al thoughts of things help or don't. There is not much that I could do about this one even if I wanted to.

I blame this thread for breaking my resolve and sending me to the corner shop for choloclate bar and pint of milk. mmmmmmm.

missbrightside · 30/03/2012 18:28

Thanks Karbea. I feared someone would confirm it was a litre a day ..... ! Makes me shudder a bit just thinking about drinking it in those quantities ... !

Best of luck to you by the way.
