Day 11 since MC started, positive ovulation test AND pregnancy test. Advice?!

I'm still in the confusing WTF time post miscariage, which happened at 10+5, and I've had one bit of advice on this (thanks 'M'!), but wanted to cast my net wider.

I tested positive on both the ovulation and the pregnancy tests (the pregnancy test is thankfully feint) this morning, and positive on the ovulation test yesterday.

I've read that you can count the start of MC bleeding as CD1, I've also read that you can't. If I can then today is CD11.

'M' advised that the ovulation test is not as sophistiated as the pregnancy test so it can't be trusted. (what surprises me is that I'm using them at all since they never showed me as ovulating in the past).

We don't want to start trying until the pregnancy test is negative in case I need to have any assistance to complete the MC, but I was shocked to think I might be ovulating, wasn't expecting that to start before the MC was complete.

I'm desperate for your experiences, this area seems to grey for Google apparently!

IME (6mcs) you may find that you will continue to get a + pregnancy test for sometimes many weeks after the completed mc.
Pregnancy hormones hang around for a long time unfortunately.
I wouldnt bother doing either tbh, waste of money & time.

We waited for the bleeing to stop, until i felt ok phsyically, then began to try again. Usualy the following month.

I agree, your pregnancy hormones have not gone down low enough for a bfn yet. Both times it took me 2 weeks to get to that point and neither of those was a "natural" miscarriage. As you probably know, if you have pregnancy hormones in your body it can make an opk turn positive even though you are not ovulating.

Ditch the testing for now. However, do another one in a weeks time. If it is still showing positive then contact the EPU where you were treated (or your doctor if you weren't seen at the EPU) and request a scan to check that the miscarriage is properly complete.

You can't really count the first day as CD1. Perhaps it works like that with a very early miscarriage but not at 10 weeks. My first miscarriage was at 10 weeks, had the operation at 11 weeks and it took about 5 weeks to get a period again. Don't bother counting days or looking out for ovulation in the meantime, it's pointless and will only make you more stressed.

It's fine to try again as soon as you feel ready (unless a doctor has told you otherwise) but don't put too much pressure on yourself right away. It takes a bit of time for your body to recover.

Hi, am really sorry for your loss, having been there myself I know how hard it is. I just wanted to add that the Ovulation test will be picking up the HCG most probably, rather than an LH surge, basically it can't tell difference between the two hormones, where as a pregnancy test can tell the difference and only turns positive when detecting HCG, an OPK will detect HCG & LH.

I would try and ditch the tests and do another pregnancy test in a weeks time, it can take a long time for HCG to get completely out of your system. It did for me.

thanks, I threw myself into housework and minor repairs today, this is the first time in 3 months I've had any energy so am just going with it. And I will not poas until it's time and the right stick.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It took 4 weeks for me to get a negative test after my mc, be prepared for a strange cycle straight after mc. Random bits of ewcm, random "period" pains, random PMS (for me anyway). I think it's all just your body working things out, it's horrible but will get better soon enough, be nice to yourself and don't expect too much, you've been through a lot physically and emotionally.

I'm lucky I have a fantastic manager, when I ranger her last week to offer my return to work plan she said "no dear, get yourself singed off", and when I spoke to her today about returning to work next she week she enforced a phased return and cancelled my clinical case load so that I can get caught up on other stuff, so I'll only be in two days a week for the next two weeks AFTER having two weeks off to recover. I do feel very fortunate.
