VERY faint line on a pregnancy test

My period is due in roughly three days (I'm not regular) and I took two tests yesterday, one was a negative and the other had a whisper of a line.

Took another one this morning and there is a very very faint but unmistakable pink line. My DP WON'T BELIEVE IT, which is so frustrating but I'm convinced. Kind of.

Am I right in thinking any line means the presence of HCG and I'm therefore definitely pregnant? Or is this just wishful thinking? Anyone had this?

My very faint lines are 13, 10 and 8 now. congratulations Grin

Yip, you're right - unless you're on hormones for fertility, false positives don't happen because, as you guessed, your body can't pick up HCG levels if you don't have any to pick up!

Sounds like a BFP - congrats!

YAY! Thanks for the second opinions..
Will book Dr's test on Monday.

Congratulations! Wine
Maybe not, maybe Brew would be more appropriate.

Ooh BFP, congratulations. I tested with mine about a week before AF due and had faint lines. Defo positive!

DaffodilsAhoy · 17/03/2012 12:14

My very faint line is 7yrs old now. I wouldn't believe the faint line either when I saw it. Test tomorrow - don't bother with dr's tests, hpts are just as good I think, bet the line will be darker Smile

Congratulations!

  • and when i say faint line, i mean u had too stand in the light, tilt and squint at the test, that was on the day of missed period too! soon got a BFP later on in the day. maybe wait a few days? or take a digital? ( altough their no fun, no lines to squint at :) xx

The excitement is rising now..

I have an 18 month old but he was a (lovely) suprise so I didn't test until I was almost 7 weeks pregnant and the line was unmistakable. Even then DP would't believe it until a doctor confirmed it. I feel like squealing with delight!

BalloonSlayer · 17/03/2012 13:08

Oh yes definitely positive! And quite a strong positive too if you've still got 3 days to go!

Congratulations!

Stangirl · 17/03/2012 14:43

I took my very faint line to the GP and without even looking at it she said "a line is a line is a line". She was right.

KatAndKit · 17/03/2012 17:04

yes, you are quite definitely up the duff. I got a positive three days early too. A line is a line.

By tomorrow you should most likely have enough hcg for it to spell it out to him in black and white on a digital. For some reason men seem to be suspicious of the lines but you can't argue with the word "Pregnant" on the display!

osterleymama · 17/03/2012 17:33

I couldnt wait and went and bought a clear blue digital. I'm defintely pregnant and even DP can't find room for error on a big digital 1-2 weeks pregnant. The three of us just did a little dance around the garden, well I suppose the four of us really! Thanks for the advice again, I'm delighted!
