SWI question...

Hi everyone - I wonder if you wonderful mumsnetters can help with my bizarre question... My DH and I have been trying to have a baby for a year and have had no joy. My tests have come back clear from the doctors and my husband is waiting to get his. I truly don't think there is anything wrong with us which gets me thinking about what could be holding up starting our little family... so here is my question...

Almost immediately after sex (usually with him on top for conceiving purposes), if I reach round to the inside of my bum cheeks/very top of my thighs, I can feel all his stuff there and I wanted to check if this is normal or if we are 'missing' the target somehow! Do other people get this? I am aware of the 'wet spot' and perhaps this is it before it hits the mattress. I also know that everyone's experiences in bed are different but any thoughts on this would help me think it through.

Thanks in advance!

Erm yes if we finish with him on top/me on my back then some will almost always leak out and drip down into my bum crack.

I still have plenty left inside though (I know as it leaks out slowly overnight - very annoying!).

Are you saying you think it all leaks out immediately and there is none left inside you?

Hi there - I think the stats for each sperm actually making it through the cervix let alone to an egg are quite shocking. If you are having vaginal sex you are in with a chance to get PG if everything else is working! However, are you managing to time it to coincide with ovulation etc? (Sorry if that's so darn obvious it's silly.)

The fact that there's plenty of 'stuff' is also a good sign, but it depends on the quality too IYKWIM.

Sorry it's taking so long. It's a bugger, isn't it? Perhaps his test results will reveal something. That's been the case for us.

Good luck either way.

If he is definitely ejaculating inside your vagina then that's fine. Only 1% of sperm in each ejaculate make it through the cervix. 99% fall out. Fortunately that means that 3 million are still good enough swimmers to make it through on average.

Hi all - thank you so much for responding. Minipie that is exactly the area I mean but I am unsure how I know if there is plenty inside as, if it leaks out in the night, I'm not sure I'd know - how do you know?

bean we are indeed timing it over ovulation (which was confirmed at a rather horrible ultrasound last month) so all is good there. I'm very regular which is all the more frustrating.

kitkat I had been aware that the stats were something like that but it's great to have that confirmed. I guess we'll just keep at it!

minipie ditto here.

I would suggest every other day for the majority of the month, just incase ovulation varies each month (can do apparently).

Best of luck xx

His SA results may explain why there's an issue. Or else it is just a case of being patient and keep going. Try not to worry about the sex - it sounds like you're doing a good job! Wink
