Early bleeding

Im due to have period on Saturday, im 9dpo. but started today with light brown discharge when wiped. Then it became a light pink colour and now it's red and I'm having to use a sanitary towel. I'm also experiencing period like tummy cramps.

Other symptoms when I lean on my boobs from the sides I get the feeling of sharp spikey feelings. Which are uncomfortable, never had this feeling before!

Is this implantation bleeding of has AF come early.

Anyone become pregnant after having these symptoms, would be greatly welcome.

It could be either. I have experienced both scenarios, I couldn't tell the difference. So, it's just a wait and see I'm afraid

Cymru82 · 13/03/2012 19:39

Thank princess Wellington. I'll just hold tight then.

My implantation bleed was slightly earlier than my period was due, lasted for a day and was brown discharge only (like the start of my period).

HTH

And good luck!

Cymru82 · 13/03/2012 21:44

Thanks shushbaby, but it's definitely more red blood. Start off brown for most of the day, then turned in afternoon. Not sure if this is good or bad.

But I never come on this early before. Confused

I thought mine was a period and I was pregnant. Afaik it was red. But if you are consciously trying your stress levels could change your cycle and you may have period early! Wish I had never known about implantation bleeding, then at least it would be a nice surprise if bfp comes a week later

Hi no I have not tested as I think I had my period early. I don't know what to think really. All feels very strange. Let us know the outcome of yours. Have you had lots of red blood and had to use tampons etc as I have you see.

Runswithsquirrels · 18/03/2012 18:33

I've had this a few times and it's just been freakishly early periods for no reason I'm afraid. :(

sunnyday123 · 18/03/2012 18:53

i have had implantation bleeding 2x and both was only pink/brown discharge for 1-2 days at about 9-10 dpo. It may be worth using ovulation sticks - they are great for preventing false hope!

These sticks tell you when you will ovulate - you may already know this but if not its important to know that the time before ovulation varies each month but the time from ovulation to period is ALWAYS 14 days - thus if your period is late its because you ovulated late etc.

Therefore if you use these you can predict pretty much to the day when your period is due. I have used these with all 3 pregnancies and they worked spot on every time! So once you detect ovulation, you know not to get your hopes up until 14 days have passed etc etc

Rudawakening · 18/03/2012 20:41

Sunny I might be wrong but the time between ov and your period can be different as well, not everyone has a 14 day luteal phase some have longer others have shorter or so I believe.

You need to know when you ovulate and ow long your LP is and then you can predict your period properly.

Rudawakening · 18/03/2012 20:42

How not ow

sunnyday123 · 19/03/2012 07:49

yes Ruda you are right in which case you can be alerted if your luteal phase is too short rather than ttc pointlessly for months and months - either way they can tell you an awful lot about your cycle!

I didn't know about implantation bleeding and at 4 weeks I started bleeding like you. I went to a&e cos I thought I was either miscarrying or having an ectopic. It turned out it was fine and must have been implantation bleeding but I went through the process of two scans and four blood tests to check it out. Didn't at any time get told I was being silly or over cautious. The emergency gyno unit were amazing. If you are worried, get it checked out.

Pipbin · 19/03/2012 18:21

I think what Sunny meant was that the time from AF to OV can vary, but the time from OV to AF is always the same. How long that is depends on you, but if it's 14 days, it's always 14 days. If it's 10 days it's always 10 days.
