You might just be missing it due to testing at the wrong time of day.

If you do two tests a day (use the cheapie ones off the internet, not the smiley sticks) then you might be more likely to catch your surge. you don't need to do two tests every day, just around the time when you are expecting the surge to happen.

I use the clearblue smiley face sticks, my smiley face can appear any time between day 12 and day 18, I only test once a day at 2 in the afternoon and have got a smiley face every day. Hope that helps x

LauraM20 · 08/03/2012 21:17

Not every day every month!! Do you test at the same time each day? X

I'm sure it says on the pack not to test first thing in the morning, the level of hormone increases throughout the day and I think the best time is between 12-7pm. Maybe that's why you havent had your smiley face? X

With those ones it does say you can test first thing in the morning. However, I read that the surge happens early morning and reaches our urine a few hours later, so I always tested around 2pm and always got a positive that way.

I don't get on with the digital tests either.

I have been using internet cheapie sticks for a while and get a couple of days with a faint line, not as strong at the control line. I was wanted a more accurate result so bought some of the digital ones and for the last 3 cycle haven't had a positive result, even when the cheapie is showing what I consider to be a positive for me.

I have also been temping so think the cheapies are showing ovulation at the correct time as I get positive sticks followed by the temp rise.
