Why did I chuck the test in the bin?! And other questions...

I need some help ladies.

We are ttc no 2, been trying for quite a while now. I have had some crazy cycles for the last two cycles (65 days and 40 days compared to the normal 29), so have no idea when my period is due.

Had some brown bloody discharge- like the start of my period- yesterday, which was cd29 (so a day earlier than I wd normally be due on, but given recent cycles god only knows whether or not I was due). With a sinking heart, I cracked out the Always Ultra. But since then, I have had only the tiniest bit of brown spotting, barely enough to warrant a pad.

Of course, I instantly thought implantation bleeding. So I took a test today, cd30, which was, it seemed, bfn, in that the control line came up strongly straight away, with nothing in the test box. When I was pg with dd, the test line was so strong, so quickly, that this time I immediately stuffed the test in the bin assuming bfn. Plus my 2 year old was asking 'what are you doing?' and trying to grab it... I also assumed if I'd had implantation bleeding, I'd get bfp straight away. So in the bin it went (and I cried, a bit). This was about one min after doing test.

On a daft whim just now- three hours later- I took the test out of the bin (I know) and there is a faint line in the test box. Gah! Have heard about evaporation lines- could this look like a faint bfp?

So, do I stand a chance or is this just clutching at straws?! After being so late for my previous two periods but having no bfp, I am thoroughly sick of doing test after test and all being neg... Feel like I can't face it again.

Fwiw I may have ov'd on cd22 (but who the feck knows)

Give it a week and re-test.

And breath, I keep doing this to myself, also.

MagnumIcecreamAddict · 05/03/2012 20:44

Not an expert but I have had implantation bleeding with my DS. From what I know you need to wait 2-3 days after implantation before you can even hope to get a BFP.
I think it sounds hopeful and wish you lots of Luke. Hold out a few days and retest.

MagnumIcecreamAddict · 05/03/2012 20:45

Luck not Luke, stupid iPad!!

ShushBaby · 05/03/2012 20:48

Yes will wait a week. Is agony! Have just been reading about evaporation lines on the web, and now wish I'd never gone ferreting in the bin... Idiothole.

Evap lines are apparently more common on blue dye tests. If it's a pink one an evap line should be grey. More hope if the "evap" line is pink.
I'm 7dpo and desperately wanting to POAS to just know one way or the other so I feel your pain!!

ShushBaby · 05/03/2012 20:55

It's pink but sooo faint....

At least I think it's pink. Could be grey. Jesus, when did I become That Person?!

Wait a whole week? Give it 2 or 3 days from the previous test I'd say.

If it is a bfn this month you should consider seeing the doctor about the fact that your menstrual cycle is becoming long and irregular.

ShushBaby · 06/03/2012 13:12

Right, this is getting farcical now! Couldn't resist doing a test at 12.45pm today. Doorbell rang just after I'd peed on it, so I put it in my pocket. Took it out at 13.02 exactly and there was a faint line in the positive box!

But I left it for 17 mins and the limit is supposed to be ten.

Obv will test again later (obv!) but in the mean time, can anyone tell me, could it have been an evaporation line after 17 mins?

Is the line pink?

ShushBaby · 06/03/2012 13:20

I think so, though it really is so faint I can't tell properly. Why oh why did I forget to check it? Now can't get to shops til later gahhh.

Um.... Bfp! Did a test this morning and bloody well watched it like a hawk. Definite bfp, quite faint but very very definite.

Hurrah!!

Thanks and good luck, ladies

Thought so! Most people who get those lines outside the time limit seem to end up with a bfp soon after!

Congratulations :)

MagnumIcecreamAddict · 07/03/2012 07:26

Congratulations! Great news Grin

You've pretty much described my situation back in October last year. Erratic cycle, very light 'start of period' type discharge, but no 'fresh' blood, then it stopped. So I thought "mmmm I wonder?", POAS and got a very feint line. Re tested every few days and line never got that strong but always there. MW said there will only be a line if the preg hormones are there, so long as it develops in the specified time. I'm now 24+4 and expecting a little girl in June Smile good luck!

ShushBaby · 07/03/2012 09:28

Thanks all. Am cautiously happy, very aware that at this early stage it might not stick. But very excited!

Congrats AmethystMoon. Am now resisting testing again and again to see if line gets stronger (but terrified I'll get a bfn)
