Lines getting lighter?

Hiya,

I got a very clear positive on a FRER on friday at 11dpo and did another today hoping the line would be darker but its lighter. Is that a bad sign ? I'm starting to worry quite a bit!

First off, is it the same test? Is it with relatively the same concentration of urine? If it is a less sensitive test or if you used FMU through other day & not today, that could be why.

However, I have limited experience & my one experience of testing at 11dpo (admittedly it wasn't a very dark line, but was def there & appears in photos) & testing again at 15 & 17dpo recently did not end well - by the evening of the 3rd test I was bleeding & I was devastated. :(

I'm sorry to be the bearer of possibly bad news (& I really hope I'm wrong) but this is my experience. It may not be that way for you & you might find you're worrying for no reason, but it worried the hell out of me and part of that was the not knowing. I don't like to think of you panicking & thinking its the end of the world - it isn't because if could mean nothing (as I said above). But it might be worth you preparing yourself for the worst & then you'll be wonderfully relieved when it doesn't happen...

I'm sorry that I can't put your mind at rest, really I am, but only time will tell if its a bad sign or just a dodgy test.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you x

Thank you for replying.

It was the same type of test but from a different box. Tested about an hour earlier than Friday.

Sorry to hear about what happened. That's kinda what I thought :(

I don't know what to think

izzy the only thing you can do is wait. Give it a day or two & test again with nice concentrated first morning urine, pee in a pot & dip the stick for a nice long time. With luck, the line will be getting darker again & this was just a blip.

If it isn't a sticky bean, you can't do or say anything to stop nature taking its course I'm afraid. It was probably not going to develop 'normally' & lots of people have this, they just don't realise because they didn't test... It sucks big time, but if its any consolation, my body seems to have gotten back 'on the baby making horse' so to speak & I'm in the 2WW (again).

Hoping its a sticky bean x

Hi buzzybees.
I am going through the exact same thing right now. I had a nice strong BFP yesterday afternoon (not even FMU) then when I tested again this morning with FMU my lines were really faint. I used exactly the same brands as yesterday, one superdrug & one first response, & they are both much fainter. I am 13dpo today & not due AF until Wednesday so was very surprised to even get a result. I am now absolutely terrified & know I am going to be absolutely devastated if it's not a sticky bean. To top it all off I can't get a doctors appointment until next week & I can't do an emergency appointment because of work. I may have to throw a sickie tomorrow.

Hope everything turns out ok for both of us. Keep me updated with how you get on. Xx

Hi pinsent thanks for your reply also. Our stories sound very similar as i am 14dpo today and got BFP on fri (11dpo) at 9.30pm so expected a darker line. I have rubbishy cycles and not even sure when i would be due AF so i cant even say to myself that at least that hasnt shown. I happen to have a GP appt on wed so will mention tests then, i did phone this morning but they said they need to do their own test so its on your notes! I'm worried they will be less sensitive and tell me that no i'm not pregnant. I think i may take my + test in my bag!

Hope things are ok your end. Keep in touch!

I once did a wee (pardon the pun)experiment with the internet cheapies. I dunked 5 of them from the same batch into the same wee and every one of them was a different shade.

So I think it indicates that even what look like identical tests don't contain the same amount of dye.

Hope it all goes well!

helenlouisey · 06/03/2012 07:53

Yep I had the same thing as Pickle, I did three tests in the same bot of urine and they all came up differently in how strong the line was. Please try not panic too much yet, I think each test has different amounts of dye in, which can then affect how strong the line looks, rather than your HCG levels being lower with a fainter line. Best of luck x
