Positive ovu test when period is due?

I just wrote a more detailed post but my phone went bonkers and lost it, here's the short version:

Why would an ovu test strip give a +ve result on day period is due? Anyone had this happen?

Don't ask why I tested, I have no idea.

Pregnant? Opks can be positive due to hcg as well as lh.
Good luck!

ScarlettInSpace · 02/03/2012 20:57

OPKs are a bit hit and miss IMO, I didn't register a +ve the month I was proved to have ov'd with a blood test and get random faint days throughout... Fx magnum is right tho!

heidipi · 02/03/2012 20:58

Thanks for the reply - Aargh! Daren't even think it. Babysitting til late, drawer full of tests at home.

I googled and confused myself, just wondered if anyone had had it happen - as if anyone else would test when period due, mind you...

If you can wait another 12 or so days, I'll POAS for you tell you the result??!! Grin

neolara · 02/03/2012 22:04

You can definitely get a positive on an ovulation stick if you are pregnant but I'm not sure how high levels of HCG have to be for this to happen. Alternatively, maybe you are ovulating late.

Good luck.

heidipi · 02/03/2012 22:09

Chicken I can't wait that long but we could still compare sticks if you like?!

Neolara - got a +ve 2 wks ago too, can it happen twice?

Have you taken a pregnancy test? Maybe you got a positive 2 weeks ago because that is when you ovulated and you have got a positive now because you are pregnant. Or maybe you've been pregnant? Alternatively, apparently some people occasionally ovulate twice in a cycle.

neolara · 02/03/2012 22:17

Oops, that should read "Or maybe you've been pregnant for a while".

heidipi · 02/03/2012 22:22

I'm going to do a pg test later Neolara, am at a friend's babysitting at the mo, and torturing myself Roth possibilities. Thanks for keeping me company Grin

It's unlikely - am old and we didn't try hard this month. First month ovu testing and might not have done it properly anyway. Gah!

Roth? WITH damned iPhone.

There is no possibility that Tim Roth has upduffed me.

I hope it is the result your hoping for :)

heidipi · 03/03/2012 06:01

Ok so did a test or 3 (cheapie strips) when
I got home and got 3 lines - faintish but definitely there!

Am trying to be cool cos if it wasn't for doing the ovu test I wouldn't have done a pg test til next weekend.

Potentially bloody brilliant though - thank you for holding my hand!

A line is a line. Congratulations!

Tiago · 03/03/2012 06:54

Congratulations, great news :)

Chunkychicken · 03/03/2012 08:39

Congratulations Heidi that looks good, hope its a sticky one.

But dammit... you'be given me a glimmer of hope!! We didn't 'try' hard but DTD once (work scuppered chances of anything more) after I got my OPK +ve & don't want to get my hopes up too much. Now it looks as though it might just have been enough if it worked for you.Grin

All the best & I'll compare & contrast the OPK at AF time soon...Wink

heidipi · 03/03/2012 15:06

Thank you! And yes chicken it seems it might be quality rather than quantity - or the luck of the draw or the wind blowing in the right direction, or something. Do it again tonight anyway eh? Can't hurt and it's the weekend!
