Got a +ve OKP on CD16 and 17 and EWCM on CD16. Cramps too. Good signs of ovulation right?

Now seeing EWCM on CD25. WTF is going on with my crappy ovaries?!

I get a similar thing :(

I caved and bought a CBFM, last month I had EWCM on CD15 but actually O'd on CD19.

Crystal ball might help too Wink

RightUpMyRue · 27/02/2012 17:14

A crystal ball or some sort of invasive but explanatory home surgery kit I could use to see in there and find out what on earth is wrong!

I've had one DD, 9 years ago though, and had a miscarriage in the new year so I know things do happen in there. Feeling a bit let down by myself really Sad

How long is your cycle normally? Can you go back to 'grass roots' and just SWI every 2 days?

I've just started the Zita book which tells you how to work out your fertile time - using the last 6 months of cycles start of fertile time is longest cycle -20, end is shortest cycle -10.

Maybe combine this with temping/charting to see if you ov on a regular day each month. If you have a consistent cycle you can save money and not bother with the CBFM. That said, I'm thinking of buying one!

RightUpMyRue · 27/02/2012 17:42

Thing is Stasi I have quite irregular cycles, over the last 15 months they've ranged from 27 to 41 days. They average at 34 but tend to be longer rather than shorter.

I recently bought Taking charge of your fertility and that bangs on talks about charting. I think if this cycle is unsuccesful I will start charting temp and mucous and cervix and any other craze inducing symptom I can think of.

Or buy a CBFM Smile

I read on the Internet that something like 9% of women ovulate twice a month which could explain EWCM but I'm not sure if it's true Confused

PickleSarnie · 27/02/2012 17:54

I always get two lots of ewcm each month. One around the time of ovulation and another about a week later. Google did give me an answer why but I can't remember! So I think ewcm has to be used in conjunction with other indicators to determine when you're ovulating.

I'm currently pregnant so I don't think having two lots of ewcm can be an indicator of anything "wrong"

Stasi · 27/02/2012 17:55

One of the threads I'm on has had some successes with the CBFM, the ladies ovulated on a different day than expected. So they could still be good even if you think you have regular cycles. For irregular ones I'm sure a shag dictator would come in useful.
Charting is only useful to learn your cycles - if they're regular - for me it's given me a 4 day window for ov, and gives me a clear 'the egg popped, have a night off' day at the end. It can't help at the start of a cycle though, so if regular SWI is too stressful/tiring OPKs or CBFM would be invaluable I'd think. Especially as EWCM can be confusing (as you've noticed)!

RightUpMyRue · 27/02/2012 19:36

In TCOYF it says it's possible to ovulate twice in a cycle but always within 24 hours, not almost 10 days so I'm pretty sure I either didn't ovulate earlier in the month or this is just some rogue goo. I have read about some women who experience a day or two of EWCM just before AF arrives so that's possible too Sad

That's good to know Pickle, a gooey chuff is necessary for getting for PG so I suppose I should be a bit pleased I've got some extra rather than not enough. Congratulations for your BFP, how far along are you?

I starting using OPKs in December, after almost a year of trying with no success, and got pregnant that month. So you're right Stasi, the shag inidicator was very useful that month. Unfortunately I miscarried in January but have continued to use OPKs. Like I said up-thread I think if this cycle isn't succesful I'll throw everything I can at the next one to get it right.

Thanks all for sharing. It really does help to know there are others out there who are thinking about the goo their cervix is throwing at them Grin
