Wouldn't the fact that you need to use stem cells mean that you'd have to have had a successful pregnancy in order to harvest the material to create an embryo that was genetically yours? So it would effectively be a good strategy for someone worried that they might be at the end of their reproductive life who wanted more children, but not for anyone who had not been able to conceive at all. Or am I missing something?

Stem cells are not limited to fetal matter - they are found in your bone marrow for example.

In this study, they isolated the stem cells in the ovaries of women & stimulated them to produce more eggs, rather than left them in the 'switched off' state that they exist in in our bodies under normal circumstances. They just need to find the correct stimulus in the human body, rather than the stimulus experienced in mouse ovaries (who obviously don't have a menopause or run out of eggs.)

Pretty much ideal for women whose ovaries, & thus reproductive ability, will be damaged by chemotherapy, as an example, with no issue about some bloke saying you can't use his embryo...
