We had to pay £250 I think for initial consultation with private consultant - he then referred us to his NHS practice so we didn't pay anything further.

I had a letter from gp and having been told it was a 4 month wait decide to got private. It was about £160 for initial consultation

I don't think you have to have a letter if you go to a totally private clinic

if you look up some on the net they often have price lists on their web sites
