Pregnant after IVF, do you ever stop worrying?

A the title says I am now all of 5 weeks pregnant after our second icsi attempt. I have had a DS before naturally, and of course you always worry when you are pregnant, but this is something else! I cannot relax at all for worrying that something is wrong, or going to go wrong. I am not sleeping well either. How do I learn to relax a bit?

Congratulations! I had DS after ICSI and remember how terribly anxious those first weeks were...though I'm now pregant naturally (35 weeks) and agree that the pregnancy worries don't go away. I seem to be very anxious, especially in the early weeks, regardless...

Anyway, I found it helped to break the days down. Eg I'm assuming you have an early scan booked in for 7 weeks? That's what our clinic recommended anyway, so I just counted down the days til that. Then began the count down to the 12 week scan (though I caved at 10 weeks and had another private scan as was convinced one day the worst had happened - it hadn't).

I also found listening to relaxation CDs to be helpful, I had a Zita West one I'd use when TTC but I now use a hypnobirthing CD to relax. And it helps me a lot.

Thanks flip, have also has suggestions of relaxation CDs on pregnancy thread, and it's something I'm now going to look into. I have early scans at 6 and 8 weeks, so fingers crossed it all goes to plan!

I sympathise. I spent a stupid amount of money on private scans and only stopped when I was certain I could feel DS move...then I panicked most days until he woke up and had a wriggle Grin I am hoping I (a) get pregnant with number 2 and (b) relax and enjoy it more next time! Smile
