No AF for 7 weeks, negative test - but could I be pregnant?

I am a novice at TTC and mumsnet! I have got a 2 1/2 year old DS and got pg immediately with him.
This time round, I came off the progesterone-only pill in October and have had two AFs since then, with a 6 week interval between them. I started trying to track my ovulation last month with sticks but had no LH surge for three weeks, and finally got fed up with it about a week before AF was "due" according to my 6 week cycle theory.
I started to get cramps at around that time but no AF. It is now 7 weeks and two days since my last AF.
Around two days before my AFwas "due" (I say it like that because I am so irregular) I started getting more painful cramps, increased discharge and feeling very tired. I have more sensitive nipples than normal and I "feel" pregnant but know I could be wishful thinking. The cramping is really quite uncomfortable, like when I was pg before. Have done 3 tests between when I was due and this morning, all negative.
I have looked online and I know some people have negative tests when they are pregnant but how common is this and should I go to the doctor for a blood test or just put up with the waiting game? Don't want to be a time waster!

Anyone got any advice...?

Hi plum I am in pretty much the same position. My period was due on 10th Feb, and since then I've had 3 negative tests. My periods are regular as clockwork, however, so I'm pretty confused by the negative results.

With DD1 I fell pg first time. This time, we've been ttc since June ....

My plan is to go to the docs next week for a blood test if there is still no AF and if the tests are still negative.

It's no annoying not to know! I want to know!

theplumfairy · 01/03/2012 22:17

Hm, almost exactly the same! I went to the docs on Tuesday and she said she thinks my ovulation is still being inhibited by the pill I was on (cerazette). So it's a wait for the next period situation for me...
I don't actually feel PG now though, my doctor said the feeling I had was probably my system preparing to do what it needs to do. Let me know if you get a positive though!

I was POAS for weeks tying to detect when I was ov, I had almost given up hope of ov so hadn't done one for a few days.. when bam.. I got a deff + and was ovulating! So hard when you come off contraception, I havent had an AF since having my coil out end of Dec, just want a normal straight forward cycle again so I know what's going on !! So impatient!! Good luck ladies, even if I'm not really getting anywhere would be good to hear some exciting news to give me hope Grin

theplumfairy · 01/03/2012 22:47

I was POAS for 3 weeks solid and got fed up with it. I kept forgetting to check the bloody thing and leaving pots of wee in the bathroom because you have to let it go cold!
Can't believe its such a mission, first time round I got PG straight away.

Cookiesandcream06 · 01/03/2012 22:55

Ha me too, was almost a disaster as my 2 1/2 year old wanted to play with the pots! I fell preg without even trying, first month of coming off the pill,I just feel like I've had my good luck and now I'll be in a massive long waiting game and I'm so bratty and impatient I want things to get a move along. Do you feel the same?!

theplumfairy · 02/03/2012 14:09

Absolutely, I feel exactly the same. I also feel that this is my just desserts for being so freaked out about doing the whole pregnancy/new born baby thing for such a long time... Now that I want it I can't have it!

OP posts:
Cookiesandcream06 · 02/03/2012 17:58

I'm sure it will happen, our bodies just like to play games with us. And now we've decided this is what we want, it's like it's harder to get suddenly?! Do you find men are just laid back and never in a rush for these things?! They're hoping for doing the deed more and when it happens it happens!?

alexeliza · 02/03/2012 19:04

Hi Ladies
I think I'm in the same boat. Having come off cerazette at the end of last year, I had two normal cycles and now am waiting for AF to either appear (2 weeks late now) or for a test to show I'm pg. I've had nausea on an off for 2 weeks now, but the three tests I've had have all been -ve. I've been using FF and my temps appear to indicate that I ov'd at CD11, and I've had high temps every since so it's been really confusing.
This morning I was starting to get excited (it sounds crazy, but I just wanted some certainty!!) because I thought AF was starting which meant a new shiny cycle to get working on. But no, it was just very, very light spotting. It's all so annoying. I've booked a doctor's appointment for next week though so we'll see how that goes.
It does make me laugh though - the years of doing everything not to fall pg (and the moments of panic when there was an accident!!) and now that I want to get pg, it seems to be so difficult!!
Grrrrr.

Cookiesandcream06 · 02/03/2012 19:32

Maybe implantation bleed?? (don't want to get your hopes up though) your hormone levels might just not be high enough for a +ve. I would see doc for some clarity, unless AF makes an appearance. You never know. Hang on in there, you're not alone lovely!

theplumfairy · 02/03/2012 20:06

I saw my doc and she said to test at 3 weeks after AF was due to make sure, but I don't believe I'm PG now. Think it must be my body settling down after coming off cerazette. If I'd have known it would be like this I would've come off it ages ago / never gone on it in the first place!
Again, dont want to raise hopes Alexeliza but doesn't continually raised temp indicate pregnancy? Think I read it somewhere...

OP posts:
Cookiesandcream06 · 02/03/2012 20:28

Alex- I have read that too, it rises at Ov and goes back down if egg isn't fertilised, I think it stays high if conceived?

It's a horrible position though, not wanting to get your hopes up but at the same time not feeling neg.

alexeliza · 03/03/2012 19:33

Okay, AF seems to have made an appearaance today and I have to say I'm relieved, just to have an end to all the uncertainty. At least I now have a new shiny cycle to work with. I agree Plumfairy - I would have come off the cerazette ages ago if I knew how crazy it would be to settle down. Fingers crossed for BFPs for you all soon! x

theplumfairy · 03/03/2012 20:29

Aw thanks for letting us know. Let's hope your next cycle settles down. Still no sign of AF for me but I will update!

At least you can have a couple of glasses of Wine

OP posts:
Cookiesandcream06 · 03/03/2012 22:02

Aw yeah just think of a glass of wine and the fact you now know and can start again. It would almost be a relief now, just to know. I'm not gonna lie I'm not hopeful for my +, I really don't think I am, I feel like its just a matter of time before AF arrives. When are you ladies expecting yours?!

Cookiesandcream06 · 03/03/2012 22:03

Im worried my body still has too many hormones left to function normally, I just want my normal (ish) cycle back and to know what's going on in there?!

theplumfairy · 03/03/2012 22:09

I have no idea when (if...?) mine will ever come! It seems to have gone totally awol.
Someone told me evening primrose can help regulate hormones so I am popping that and hoping for some kind of progress!

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/03/2012 09:56

Hello can I join? Ttc no. 2 came off the mini pill mid dec, had AF 3 weeks after that then I had a gruelling 5 week cycle where I got my hopes up only for AF to turn up 8 days late.

I'm now due on in 3 days, caved in this morning and did an eBay cheapo test but got a bfn.
Going to test again on wed if no AF by then. Hate this waiting!

Cookiesandcream06 · 04/03/2012 10:32

Hello desperatehousewife, well fingers crossed for you this is your month. Waiting is the worst, damn the not knowing. We WILL get our BFPs!!!

Evening primrose? It's one of the pills I'm not currently taking ha, I will invest thank you !!

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/03/2012 11:22

Thank you :) I never had all this waiting with ds, I'm was working then do I had that to take my mind off it plus it happened within a month. I even casually waited til I was a few days late before testing.

I didn't think I'd be so obsessed with it this time round but I am!

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/03/2012 11:22

Sorry for typos am on my phone!

Cookiesandcream06 · 04/03/2012 13:39

Same DH! Literally wasn't even trying, casually came off the pill and boom! However I am TTC with a diff partner now and I worry his swimmers won't be as good or something. I had my surge 10/11 days ago now and I gave in and bought FR test today but thinking was a bit OTT and am going to try and hold off. It says it has a 62% accuracy 6 days before AF so I got persuaded into purchasing.. When are you expecting yours?!

Cookiesandcream06 · 04/03/2012 13:40

Oh and I went out in the pouring rain to buy some evening primrose from town.. Not cool!! Blush

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/03/2012 16:45

AF due on wed if it's a 28 day cycle which it prob won't be just to make me wait even longer! I'll test wed anyway though.

No idea when I OV, if it doesn't happen this month I'll be getting some OPKs.

Cookiesandcream06 · 04/03/2012 18:19

I really wanted to know, my results fitted in with change in CM so should be accurate :/ yeh there's no harm in testing weds, if you get a BFP and still no AF just try again in a couple days. I'm regretting having them in the house now, makes it tempting!
