scan @ 5+4. only sack seen. any got any info?

Hi,

i went for an early scan and then found a cyst, which is ok, should disperse, but they only saw a sack in my womb, no heartbeat, baby or fetal pole.

could it have been to early to tell?

I had the same thing. Had lots of bleeding & pain, went for a scan and should've been 5+6. They saw the sac but everything was so blurry. Could'nt see the pole, heartbeat etc. But bleeding & pain stopped, bloods showed hormones are doubling and I'm 7 wks today. Very nervous still though.
You should be fine hun. Do you still feel pg?

I'm not a medical person, but I think from memory that you can only see heartbeat on scan from 6 weeks. HTH

thank you. they wanted to do bloods etc, but i had to get home for boys, so im going to jsut go back in a cpl of weeks and have another scan. hopefully wait til im 8wks and then they should see alot more.

Yes, have just googled and it seems to say that at around 6-7 weeks they can usually see heartbeat.

thank you for googling for me. trying to remain positive. hopefully if i wait til im am over 7wks they will see a heartbeat.

CarlyP, I had a scan done at 5 +5 and their was only a sac seen, two weeks later there was a heart beat. Didn't affect my dates. Ds no6 months. Will keep my fingers crossed for you

similarly to chapsmum - had an abdominal scan (god knows why abdominal) at 5.5 weeks (thought I was 7.5 weeks by date of LMP), just saw a sac, no fetal pole or heartbeat, then had an internal scan 3 days later and was fortunate enough to see a heartbeat. My dates went 10 days back from date of LMP after the internal scan, then went forward 5 days at my booking scan at 15 weeks.

i think i had one at five, or was it six weeks. only saw the sack. they asked me to come baack in two more weeks. as was too early. dont worry.

also,,, could be your dates arent as accurate as you think. so you may have only ovulated ten days ago, iyswim

I had a little bleeding in this pregnancy (early on) and had 2 scans where they saw nothing. I wasn't suprized as i told them i was very early but A+E guy had referred me (long story............). Anyway, the third scan they saw just a sac. 10 days later, they got heartbeat and everything.
Fingers crossed it's just too early to see

Couldn't see heartbeat at 6 weeks, but was there at 7 weeks.

i went in for a internal scan at 5 weeks just saw a sac, went back a week later sac with heart beat and another sac, went back after another week, two sacs and two heartbeats, my twins are now 11.

How many weeks did you think you were?

When I had my early scan, they were't worried about seeing heartbeat/fetal pole etc a=s they size only suggested 5+5.

I was worried, as I knew my dates were at least 7 weeks.

So fi you were only expecting to be c.5 weeks, or are not sure of your dates, then don't worry. If you thought you were further on, it might be worth asking your GP for serial blood test to check that the HGC levels are prgressing as expected.

I thought i was 5+4 which wasnt disputed. they did want to do bloods etc but i wanted to get home to my boys, so i left. hopnefully ill get another scan if i call them in 10 days or so.

your dates are calculated from the first day of your last period. but you dont actually get pregnant till almost two weeks later when you ovulate. as this is different depending on the cycle length, this early in pregnancy there can be a huge discrepancy between how long a pregnancy is and houw long you think it is.

yeahg, do realise that, i have 2 children already! i thought i got preg earlier than day 14 this time, obviously not!!!
